JEFFERSON, S.D. (Aug. 9) – With the track illuminated by lightning all around, Chris Abelson raced to his second straight Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory Sunday at Raceway Park.

After being penalized for a restart infraction early in the race, Abelson charged from the rear of the field to the front of the pack with only a handful of laps remaining. Chasing Abelson to the checkers were Jim Thies, Ricky Stephan and Sean Barragan.

Eighty-two year old Don Tank became one of a handful of drivers to win a sanctioned IMCA feature over the age of eighty when the first and second place Mach-1 Sport Compacts under the flag failed post race inspection.

The win also drew Tank into the middle of the points championship race with only three weeks remaining. Behind Tank, Tracy Raml took her best finish of the year in second, followed by Jeremy Boulware and Andrew Vogt.

Chris Mills went to victory lane once again in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division, topping Jason Ward, Todd Gereau and Jim Hall.

Darin Roepke led flag to flag to take the win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division. Todd Boulware raced to second, followed by point leader Rusty Montange, and Karl Brewer.

Dave Riley made the pass for the lead and the win in the IMCA Hobby Stock feature coming out of turn four and held off early race leader Derek Husted to the checkers. John Cain and David Miller rounded out the top four.
