MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 7) – Joel Rust bested the Coors Light IMCA Modified field for his first local win in the open wheeled division Friday at Marshalltown.
Brandon Leeman, Rod Clement and Jake Strayer split time up front before Rust worked the top side to take the lead away on lap 16.
Strayer powered back on lap 17 but Rust did not give up and took the lead back for good with two laps to go. Strayer ended at the runner-up and Scott Simatovich was third.
Other winners included Donavon Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Jared VanDeest in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Eric Stanton in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.
Smith’s victory was his career 96th in the class.
