Elmwood Park finally gets in season opener

NORTON, Kan. (June 20) – After the first two scheduled races this season were rained out, Elmwood Park Speedway finally got in its season opener Saturday evening, June 20.

David Murray won the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature but Jesse Richter made him work for it. Murray led the first five laps before Richter got by briefly. Murray regained the lead, then held Richter in check following a lap nine restart.

Casey Werkmeister led from green to checkered in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Mikey Dancer chased Werkmeister all 15 laps but had to settle for second. Jason Davis was third.

In the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature, Jake Krone led all 15 laps in the caution-free race. Dakota Sproul and Troy Attwood completed the top three.

Roger Garrison, Garrett Hager and Rhett Kingsbury each led a lap at the start of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Hager got back by Kingsbury following a lap four restart to take a lead he would not relinquish.

Jacob Olmstead finished in the runner-up spot, followed by Kingsbury.
