A night of firsts at Off Road Speedway

NORFOLK, Neb. (June 20) – Two IMCA drivers racing Saturday at Off Road Speedway won an ‘A’ feature for the first time.

Chad Bruns finished first in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for the first time as did Brent Jochum in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.

Bruns credited his front row starting position with his Stock Cars win, describing the importance of “just staying out front” as his primary strategy. However, the car next to him in the front row, driven by Kyle Prauner, was on Bruns’ bumper throughout much of the 18-lap race, suggesting that Bruns, who previously had five top five finishes, had plenty of work to do to earn his first feature win.

Prauner finished in second place, ahead of Jason Wilkinson.

Jochum started from the third row and was promoted into the lead with 10 laps remaining when Mark Arduser was sidelined with a flat tire.

Following a caution and restart just two laps later, Jochum relinquished the lead to TeJay Mielke, but regained it with three laps left when Mielke experienced engine problems.

Jochum didn’t secure his win until he outraced Jeremy Hoskinson to the finish line coming out of turn four.

The other two division winners, Drew Johnson of Sioux City and Kyle Prauner of Norfolk, added wins to their season totals.

Drew Johnson won his fourth Mach-1 Sport Compact feature in five tries, including his third in a row. Prauner won his fifth Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature in five attempts.
