CHOWCHILLA, Calif. (June 6) – Fred Ryland won for the fifth time in six starts Saturday night at Chowchilla Speedway.
The national Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod point leader grabbed the lead from Josh Hensley on the third lap and survived a challenge from Rick Diaz on a mid-race restart to capture the victory.
As Ryland won, Diaz had his hands full holding off Jeremy Hoff for second. The battle was cut short four laps from the finish of the scheduled 20-lap event when two cars crashed in turn two. Diaz ended up second ahead of Hoff, Nastasia Dodd and last starter Chase Thomas.
