Gustin and Gustin go to victory lane at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug 2, 2024) – It was EMW Trucking Military Memorial Night at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday. Pre-race ceremonies honored those that gave the ultimate sacrifice as well as honoring those veterans in attendance, who were given free admission thanks to EMW.  More money was also on the line for four of the divisions racing. Tom Berry, Jr. went away with the $2,000 IMCA Friesen Performance Modified win, Jimmy Gustin had the crowd on its feet on the final corner when he won the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car $1,000 feature, and sister Jenae Gustin won the $1,300 IMCA Friesen Performance Northern SportMods for the second week in a row.  It was another close one at the line in the $600 to win IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks as Calvin Dhondt crossed the finish line first in a dash to the checkers. Ward, Murty, Gustin, Knutson find victory lane at DeFrance Memorial

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 26, 2024) – A large crowd was on hand for the annual running of the Dale DeFrance Memorial Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. One hundred sixty cars in five classes packed the pits for the prestigious race.  Extra money was also on the line in all classes that saw the night celebrate the patriarch of the DeFrance Family, Dale DeFrance, as well as the entire DeFrance racing family.   The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature ran first.   Jenae Gustin wasted no time in taking her ride from the fourth starting spot to the front by lap two.  She was challenged at times early by pole sitter Eddie Ingram and late in the race Brayton Carter threw his hat into the ring in an attempt to catch Gustin. Friday is a night for the record book as Ward takes 100th IMCA Modified win at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 19, 2024) – Marshalltown Speedway was back on its regular Friday night of racing this week and it was one for the record books as Tim Ward captured his career 100th Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory. Kaden Reynolds got out in front and was gone in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and Brayton Carter had no trouble in snagging the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod victory.  It was Calvin Dhondt adding to his list of wins in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks as did Cristian Grady in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts and Dillon Raffurty made the trip up from Kansas City, Missouri pay off when he saw checkers in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites.   The Mod Lite 15-lap feature was up first. Ward adds 100th Modified career win to already impressive IMCA resume

HARCOURT, Iowa (July 19, 2024)  – When Grandma Cindee Broemmer updates the notes she keeps on Tim Ward’s racing results, she’ll have to highlight his July 19 finish at Marshalltown Speedway. Thursday Night Thunder wins to Rust, Murty, Kuehl, Filloon, Brown, and Grady

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 11, 2024) – It was KIX 101.1 Thursday Night Thunder at the Marshalltown Speedway on a Central Iowa Fair hot and humid night, instead of their usual Friday night show. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars were running for a $1,000 payday and it was Dallon Murty taking home that prize. Joel Rust returned to victory lane in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Taylor Kuehl bested the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. A first-time winner ever at Marshalltown was Dustin Filloon in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Charlie Brown had the field covered in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Cristian Grady got his second win of the year in the IMCA Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Thornton is extremely good on Xtream Night at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 5, 2024) –  It was Xtream Powered by Mediacom Night at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night, along with Iron Horse Aviation giving some a different perspective of the races from high above with helicopter rides. A strong field of 134 cars checked in to entertain fans who saw Dylan Thornton capture his first local feature in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. McBirnie hits all his marks in IMCA Modified main at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 21, 2024) – It was a hot and humid night at Marshalltown Speedway on Friday, where it was Midwest Liquid Systems night at the races. One hundred forty-seven cars came to play. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds were running for $1,000 to the winner and Jake McBirnie, already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, ran the track perfectly on his way to that victory.  Damon Murty saw victory lane for the first time in the regular season when he won the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Logan Anderson got the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod win and Eric Stanton took the accolades in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Cory Sonner won in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Mitchell Bunch returned to the winner’s circle when he took the checkers in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Murty takes Money Month IMCA Modified win at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 14, 2024) – It was P & D Welding Night at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night with a good field of 124 cars checked in that provided the fans with some exciting racing action.  June is Money Month for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and it was the “Game Changer” Dallon Murty taking home the $1,000 feature win. Steve Meyer got back to victory lane in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Brayton Carter was dominant in his win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Calvin Dhondt repeated his win from last week in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Shute tops a wild one at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 31, 2024) – Marshalltown Speedway was back in action again Friday night after the prior week’s rain out.  But would it happen with the questionable weather?  It did!  And some great racing prevailed.   Todd Shute won a “sparks flying” race at the checkers in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified features.  It was Kaden Reynolds taking the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win. Brayton Carter saw victory in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Nathan Ballard won easily in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. RJ Gonzales went to victory lane in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Cristian Grady took the checkers in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Feature racing kicked off with the 15-lap main event for the Mod Lites. Marshalltown checkers are first in Iowa for Corn

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 17, 2024) – It was a beautiful night for racing at the Marshalltown Speedway Friday with 127 cars checked in. Drew Janssen came home with the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Garrett Corn saw victory lane for the first time in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Kyle Olson took top honors in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Eric Knutson was the winner in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Ben George won the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature and it was Jeremy Williams taking the checkers in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Mod Lites ran the first feature of the night, going 15 laps. George dominated this race, taking the lead on lap two, and never giving it up. Josh May chased him around the rim of the track for several laps, taking a peek a time or two, but George was never really threatened.
