Rookie rules at Luxemburg

By Edward Anschutz LUXEMBURG, Wis. (July 27) – Rookie Wyatt Block Jr. proved to be best in the IMCA Modifieds Friday at Luxemburg Speedway. Block jumped from his front row starting spot and never looked back, leading all 20 laps to his first-ever Luxemburg feature win. James Tebon gave chase all race long to place second, Jeff Bodendorfer was third, Johnny Whitman raced from row six to place fourth and rookie Jacob Zellner completed the top five. Mark Schuenemann paced the opening circuits of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature until Rod Snellenberger raced by. With only a handful of nights in the class, Mike Mullen motored from row six to the runner-up position. Snellenberger worked the cushion with Mullen right on his bumper. Mullen threw a slide job on lap 12, clearing Snellenberger for the top spot. Mullen pulled away to score his first win in the class. A three-car battle ensued for the final 10 laps of the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. Todd Wiese paced the field with Kyle Raddant and Craig Dorner hot on his heels. Raddant and Dorner pressured Wiese the entire way but in the end, Wiese was up for the [Read More]

Muenster tops Modified main at Luxemburg

By Scott Owen LUXEMBURG, Wis. (June 8) – In the racing world, it’s an impressive feat to win two races in a row, but to do it on back-to-back nights on two distinctly different surfaces is something rarely seen anymore. Eddie Muenster pulled it off, though, scoring a late model win on Thursday night and following it up with his first IMCA Modified win of the season Friday at Luxemburg Speedway. Chase Parker led early on, with Muenster and Brian Mullen hot on his heels. Parker did his best to keep the veterans at bay but Muenster eventually found his way past for the lead. Mullen also passed Parker and began to pester Muenster for the top spot. As Parker began to fade, Shawn Kilgore and Mike Mullen came from deep in the field to join the top four. At the end, Muenster held off Mullen for the win followed by 12th starting Kilgore, and 13th starting Mike Mullen. Parker held on for a strong fifth place finish in the caution-free affair. Brett Wenzel nearly equaled Muenster’s accomplishment, finishing [Read More]

Mashl tops Luxemburg lidlifter

LUXEMBURG, Wis. (June 1) – It took just shy of a full month from the originally scheduled opener, but Luxemburg Speedway was finally able to defeat Mother Nature and get its first official championship point show in the books Friday night. For Mike Mashl, it was worth the wait. Mashl parlayed a front row starting into a wire to wire victory, besting a loaded field of 32 cars to in the tough IMCA Modified division. Mashl took control early, but before he could get any separation, a four car wreck in corner one on the third lap brought the feature to a standstill. Back under green, Mashl was able to build a cushion over the pack as several teams vied for second. By lap seven, three emerged as the prime candidates for the spot, Johnny Whitman, Benji LaCrosse and Russ Reinwald. Reinwald started deepest on the grid, in the fourth row, passing Brad Lautenbach and Tony Wedelstadt to gain a top five running position. In just a couple laps, Reinwald dispensed with Whitman and LaCrosse, [Read More]
