It’s another special night at Antioch as Hogge races to 100th IMCA Modified win

ANTIOCH, Calif. (July 9, 2022) – Antioch Speedway had a special place in Bobby Hogge IV’s heart as the site of his first-ever Modified feature win.  On Saturday night, it became the site of his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified career 100th victory. The Salinas speedster took the inside line from fifth starting to the front early in the 30-lap Hetrick Memorial main event, outrunning Troy Foulger to the $1,500 checkers. “It was a good night. Hetrick Memorial set for Antioch Saturday night

ANTIOCH, Calif. (July 7, 2022) – After a week off to celebrate the Fourth of July, racing returns to Antioch Speedway in a big way this Saturday night, July 9. It’s the seventh annual Hetrick Memorial race and increased purses are on the line for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  Thanks to sponsorship, Modifieds will be competing for $1,500 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility on Saturday. It’s $750 to finish second and just taking the green flag in the main event assures the driver at least $150 at the pay window.  Northern SportMods compete for $750 to win while the Stock Cars get a $600 payout for the winner. Drivers in both divisions receive $100 minimum for taking the green flag.  More than the money, this race is about remembering the late Jerry Hetrick, who passed away in May of 2016. Antioch checkers fly for Crowell, Ryland

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (May 28, 2022) – Aaron Crowell won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Antioch Speedway. This was the first win of the season for the 2004 track champion. Crowell jumped into the early lead after the race had been restarted. Trevor Clymens was a close second before surrendering the spot  second to Kellen Chadwick in traffic on lap 10 with Troy Foulger following closely into third.  A blanket three-car battle developed for the lead with Crowell leading Chadwick and Foulger. As Foulger fell back a little bit, in the waning laps, Chadwick took one more shot at Crowell, but Crowell prevailed at the checkered flag. Foulger settled for third, followed by Anthony Slaney and Clymens. Fred Ryland won his third 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main. Chadwick, Fraser, Robles come back for seconds at Antioch

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (May 7, 2022) – Kellen Chadwick won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. This was the second win of the season for Chadwick.  Sean Wilson led the opening lap ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. before the yellow flag waved. On the restart, Terry DeCarlo Jr. made an impressive maneuver on the outside to gain the lead with brother Nick DeCarlo following him into second. DeCarlo Jr. led his younger brother on a lap three restart with Chadwick settling into third. Following the next yellow, DeCarlo Jr continued to lead with Chadwick moving into second on the lap six restart.  Chadwick ultimately made an inside move on the backstretch on lap 17 to take over. Motts started pressuring DeCarlo a little bit for the second position as Chadwick pulled away. Late pass nets Fraser victory at Antioch

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 23, 2022) – Tommy Fraser won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Fraser made his move racing to the white flag and brought home the victory. Nick Zapatero charged into the lead at the start, followed by Fraser and Mark Garner. They ran that way for several laps before a yellow flag waved for a tangle involving four other cars. Zapatero led Fraser and Kc Keller on the restart. Zapatero was doing a good job of leading the way but didn’t have a very good lap 18. A lap later, Zapatero pushed a little bit in turn three and Fraser went down low in turn four to grab the lead. Zapatero ended up spinning, and Fraser won ahead of Keller, Andrew Pearce, Mark Garner and Jonathan Hagio.

DeCarlo gets it done at Antioch Speedway

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 9, 2022) – Nick DeCarlo won the 20-lap IMCA Modified main event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. It was the second win of the season for DeCarlo and he overtook rookie Trevor Clymens to get the job done. Clymens raced into the early lead ahead of Sean Wilson and Kenneth Robles. DeCarlo started deeper in the field, and Clymens had a straightaway advantage wiped out by a lap seven yellow flag. Clymens continued to lead Robles on the restart with DeCarlo already up to third. DeCarlo went around Robles on the front stretch to take second on the ninth lap. DeCarlo was working the outside groove very well and made an outside pass on the backstretch on the 12th lap to take the lead from Clymens. Foulger is back on top at Antioch

By Don Martin II  ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 2, 2022) – Troy Foulger won the 20-lap IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Most recently the track champion in 2020, he becomes the third different winner of the season at Antioch as he piloted the Bowers Motorsports Modified to the win.  Trevor Clymens led a pair of laps with the yellow flag waving twice. Clymens led Foulger on the lap three restart but a low pass in turn two a lap later gained Foulger the lead. Kellen Chadwick went low in on lap five to take second with Nick DeCarlo quickly striking to third. Foulger had a straightaway advantage by lap 10 as DeCarlo battled Chadwick to take second. DeCarlo finally grabbed the spot on a lap 14 restart. Foulger was never really threatened as he won with DeCarlo holding off Chadwick for second. Buddy Kniss and Clymens completed the top five. Chadwick, Robles, Ryland share Antioch Speedway spotlight

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (March 19, 2022) – Kellen Chadwick picked up the win in the 20-lap IMCA Modified main event victory Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Threatening skies gave way and allowed racing to take place. Chadwick proved to be the class of the field with a dominant feature performance and a win in his heat race.  Bobby Motts Jr had a front row start and charged into the lead from the get-go. Chadwick moved into second on lap two and made a turn four pass to take the lead on the seventh circuit. Previous winner Nick DeCarlo settled into third on lap 13. Chadwick stretched his advantage to a straightaway in victory. DeCarlo, Ryland open season with wins at Antioch

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (March 12, 2022) – Nick DeCarlo scored the win in the 25-lap IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. This was the first race of the 62nd championship season at the track, and it was DeCarlo’s first win in two years. Kellen Chadwick jumped into the lead at the start with DeCarlo not far behind in second. The leaders caught heavy traffic on lap 15 and DeCarlo made an inside pass on the backstretch on lap 16 to grab the lead.  Bobby Hogge IV made a high pass in turn two on Lap 17 to take the lead from DeCarlo, but DeCarlo came back strong with an outside pass in turn four to regain command. Defending champion Hogge, rookie Bannister pick up IMCA Speedweek victories at Antioch

(May 5) – A defending champion and a rookie were feature winners in the fifth round of the California IMCA Speedweek presented by Hoppes Motorsports. 2020 Speedweek king Bobby Hogge was the $1,000 IMCA Modified winner Wednesday at Antioch Speed­way while Tyler Bannister won his career-first Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature. Hogge stormed to the point pulling away from the rest of the Modified field following two early restarts. Speedweek point leader Ethan Dotson challenged following a lap 10 caution but couldn’t complete the pass.
