Osborn, Clough, Werkmeister, Bond are Dawson County winners

(July 20) – Lightning up the night Sunday with stellar efforts at Dawson County Raceway were IMCA hotshoes Colton Osborn, Brandon Clough, Casey Werkmeister and Kyle Bond. Grabbing the lead at halfway, Osborn powered his way to the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory. Osborn snared the lead on the 11th circuit and never looked back after starting in the fifth row. Breaking through in the Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Modifieds with his first feature win of 2014 at Dawson County was Clough. He has been a mainstay inside the top five and flirted with winning but it was his night this time around as he scored the win from his front row starting position. Telecky rules Hobby Stocks at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 19) – Josh Telecky led every lap in winning his first IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature of the season Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Telecky was taking full advantage of his pole position start but on the second lap, Kevin LaTour rolled his car on the front stretch. Following the restart, Telecky resumed control and held off eventual runner-up Dakota Robinson the remaining laps. A rough and tumble 95.7 IMCA Sprint car feature saw Brett Allen make contact with Aaron Wisch, resulting in a violent flip by both cars. Both drivers were OK but out of the race. When the race resumed, Dustin Sargent led the first nine laps but Bruce Allen was on his tail. The veteran had moved through the pack and got by Sargent to take the lead and win his first feature of the year. Curt Lund started 10th and won the MN 93 IMCA Modified main event. All hail Hill at Electric City

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (July 18) – A back and forth battle between Gary Hill and Mark Wermling ended after a caution late in Friday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature at Electric City Speedway. The two had won heat races earlier in the evening and every indication was that their race to the main event checkers was going to be a nailbiter. The yellow waved on lap 18 and as the field came to the restart, Wermling broke and he came to a stop on the front stretch. After the ensuing restart, Hill shot ahead and there was no looking back.

Stanford wins round 3 of Wild West Modified Series

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 22) – Alex Stanford became the third different winner in as many nights when the Wild West Modified Speedweek resumed Tuesday at Cottage Grove Speedway. The $1,000 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory was his career third and put the California clipper on the ballot for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Collen Winebarger was very fast on the initial start but every time he built a decent lead it was erased by caution. By lap 12, Winebarger was under considerable pressure from Stanford. Stanford made his pass for the lead on lap 12 but when Winebarger tried to get it back, the two got together. Winebarger sustained damage and came to a stop. From there on out, Stanford had no issues in front. Cautions came out when he caught up with lapped cars, eliminating that traffic. First-time winners dominate at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 19) – Tad Reutzel and Isaac Hill earned their first feature wins of the season at Algona Raceway on Saturday evening. Chad Palmer and Dalton Kron also grabbed their first feature win of the year at the track with Matt Hoeft earning his second win of the season. Dustin Smith took the early IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified lead and had a straightaway advantage before Reutzel reeled him in. Hill was the winner in the caution-slowed IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main after drawing a front row start. Palmer came from the inside of the fourth row to take the double checkered flags in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. The yellow flag was also frequently displayed in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature but Hoeft overcame all of those delays to earn his second local feature win of the season. Kron steered his No. 99 rig into the winner’s circle from the outside of row two in the Mach-1 Sport Compact go.

Herrick, Werkmeister, Bond, Blowers land Lincoln County wins

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (July 19) – Scoring Saturday night IMCA victories at Lincoln County Raceway were Bryan Herrick, Kyle Werkmeister, Kyle Bond and Charlie Blowers. Herrick started in the fifth row, gained the lead just after halfway and drove away with the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod checkers. Nearly going without a caution, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars put on a whale of show with lots of passing and side-by-side racing that finished with Werkmeister leading the final eight laps. After snaring the lead on the third circuit, Bond drove away from the rest of the field and cruised to the win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Bond started in the fifth row and it only took him three laps to get to the point. Blowers won the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature after grabbing the lead on the fifth lap and finishing strong.

Jones captures Thunder Hill Modified checkers

By Bill Grit MAYETTA, Kan. (July 19) – Jeff Jones started 11th and finished first in the Saturday main event for BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds at Thunder Hill Speedway. Richard Spriggs and then Dave Conkwright set the fast pace as Jones worked his way toward the front. With racing three and four-wide throughout the field, Jones finally got the edge and took the checkers ahead of Conkwright, Brandon Blochlinger, Danny Holt and Mat Stallbaumer. Mike Nichols was the winner in a Heinen Repair Service IMCA Stock Car feature that ran caution free while Dusty Leonard prevailed in the Belleville Motorsports IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Top Bad Boyz Bail Bonds IMCA Hobby Stock honors went to Adam Armstrong and Austin Umscheid got his third Casey’s General Store IMCA Sport Compact victory.

Modified Mayhem win at Billings pays off big for Hagen

BILLINGS. Mont. (July 19) – His first visit to Billings Motorsports Park produced a new career highlight for Travis Hagen. The North Dakota traveler led all 30 laps in winning the inaugural Modified Mayhem special. Saturday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event at Billings paid $2,500 to win and landed Hagen on the ballot for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “It’s fun to race at different tracks and we had a lot of fun at Billings,” said Hagen, who hadn’t decided between the original Mayhem date and Estevan Motor Speedway before both shows were rained out on May 31. “They put on a great show and the people at the track were nice.” After drawing the outside row one start, Hagen ran most of the way with fellow traveler Eric Sinness. Dacotah Speedway to host Governor’s Cup July 25, 26

MANDAN, N.D. – Dacotah Speedway’s 24th annual Governor’s Cup special boasts a $1,600 paycheck for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified winner, along with a berth on the ballot for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Mach-1 Sport Compacts are also on the Friday and Saturday, July 25-26 cards. They’ll race for $200 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded in both divisions. Modifieds also run for Belleville Motorsports North Central Region points. The Modified feature pays a minimum of $200 to start and $100 to non-qualifiers, with a $50 registration fee. Start money for the Sport Compacts is $50 with a $20 registration. The Saturday only pit fee for both divisions is $25. Pit gates at Mandan open at 5 p.m., the draw ends at 6:15 p.m. and qualifying starts at 7 p.m. Friday. Tentative times, subject to change due to the weather, on Saturday are 3 p.m. for the pit gates, 4:15 for the draw cutoff and racing at 5 p.m.

Lund gets back on track for Redline North Star Series win at Redwood

REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. (July 20) – Once he got back on track, Curt Lund got his first Redline Racing Parts North Star Series win of the season at Redwood Speedway. Lund started Sunday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature from the pole and led all 20 laps despite driving off the second set of turns just before midway. He got back on the track as Dalton Magers and Brandon Beckendorf made up ground, then pulled away to the checkers. Beckendorf, Magers, Josh Rogotzke and Tyler Limoges completed the top five. The tour victory was Lund’s career third; he’d won two North Star events in 2012. Matt Speckman won his career second IMCA Sunoco Stock Car tour feature while Danny Myrvold and Jamie Songer were first-time winners in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, respectively.
