Sport Compacts take turn in spotlight on day two at Super Nationals BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 2) – Sport Compacts take their turn in the spotlight, on day two of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The full program for IMCA’s 4-cylinder class will be held Tuesday at Boone Speedway. Fifty-eight cars were signed in to fill the starting grid for six heat races. Race of champions qualifying started today’s show, with five heats for the SportMods and five for Hobby Stocks. A total of 20 SportMod heats and four ‘B’ features, and 14 Hobby Stock heats and seven ‘B’ races are on Tuesday’s card. Dover delivers Sprint Car Super Nationals victory

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 1) – One day late, Jack Dover won the rain-delayed Sprint Car Super Nationals at Eagle Raceway. The $2,000 to win feature was rescheduled from Sunday to Labor Day due to inclement weather. Dover took the lead following a late re-start and held off fellow Nebraskan Tadd Holliman for the victory. “I knew that the key would be set-up and tire management. That, and I found the rubber first,” said Dover, also $1,000 richer after winning Saturday’s Speedy Bill Smith Memorial Race of Champions. Ryan Hall, John Ricketts and Luke Cranston rounded out the top five in the second annual event for IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars. Jason Martin led the field at the end of the first circuit with Tadd Holliman, Jerry Hammock and Ryan Hall in hot pursuit. Luke Cranston slowed on lap six and headed pitside with a flat right front. Aikey captures record-tying fourth Super Nationals title

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 1) – The first champion crowned at the 32nd annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s has already promised to return to Boone Speedway next September in pursuit of a record fifth crown. Jeff Aikey won the Monday night main event for IMCA Late Models at Boone Speedway, leading all 50 laps. While earning his career-leading 63rd Deery Brothers Summer Series victory – and $3,300 – Aikey also matched the division record of four Super Nationals titles held by Gary Webb. Tyler Bruening started inside Aikey on the front row and ran second most of the way. Sunshine returns, hot laps are underway at Boone Speedway BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 1) – The sun is shining and the first hot lap sessions are underway on opening day of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Fourteen sets of Hobby Stock heats and 15 sets of Northern SportMod heats – plus Modified and Late Model hot laps and track prep sessions – precede the first qualifying feature for the Hobbies. Then it’s more Modified hot laps, five Late Model heats and the final five SportMod heats leading up to Late Model “B” action, a SportMod “B” and the second Hobby Stock qualifier. The 50-lap Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models main event follows Stock Car hot laps and a couple Hobby Stock “B” features. Season Championship Night at Marshalltown rained out

Two inches of rain overnight and more in the forecast has forced the weekly points season to come to an end. Season Championship Night at Marshalltown was last lost to inclement weather in 2003 … also on Aug. 29. Unofficially, track champions are Ronn Lauritzen in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Donavon Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Clint Luellen in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and John Watson in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Also rained out is Crawford County Speedway at Denison.

2014 Super Nationals sets records for pre-entries, states represented

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 29) – Six hundred and fifty-one drivers from what promises to be a record 27 states and Canada have now pre-registered and/or purchased pit stalls for the Sept. 1-6 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. The 32nd annual version of America’s Racin’ Vacation gets off to a roaring start with the Labor Day main event for Late Models. The feature for Sport Compacts is on Tuesday while main events for SportMods, Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars and ultimately the Modifieds are on Saturday’s pinnacle program. IMCA Late Model point season ends Sunday, Aug. 31

VINTON, Iowa – IMCA Late Models will end their 2014 weekly point season this Sunday, Aug. 31. The national champion, as well as local track and Allstar Performance state champions, will be announced as soon as all race reports from the weekend of Aug. 29-31 are received and bonus points are calculated. Unofficial standings will be calculated after home office staff return from the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s Sept. 1-6. Promoters have until noon on Monday, Sept. 29 to notify IMCA of any changes that affect their track’s top 15 Late Model standings. The point season for all other IMCA divisions continues through Sunday, Sept. 28.

Fourth time a charm for Handschke

By Dave Panske SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 24) – The fourth time was a charm Sunday night at Seymour Speedway for Beau Handschke. Handschke has led the last three Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod features entering the final lap, only to end up second. He stayed in front this time for his first career win in the division. Handschke had opened a big lead before Rod Solem moved into the runner-up spot after a battle with Kevin Bethke and point leader Jeremy Cota. Solem slowly started to close the gap on the leader and with three laps to go was in striking distance. Handsche moved from the outside line to the low groove to close off Solem’s line. Solem tried to make it there but Handschke would not be denied. Solem was second with Cota taking third. Bethke, Colten Van Hierden and Bruce Belland rounded out the top six. It’s Money time in SportMod Mayhem at Dodge City

(Aug. 23) – Clay Money stepped up to the occasion by racing to a $1,000 victory in Saturday night’s Inaugural 30-lap IMCA SportMod Mayhem feature event atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval. The high school junior from Penokee, Kan., battled past Kameron Gruber for the lead on the 14th lap then kept reigning track champion Jeff Kaup at bay over the final 10 circuits to secure his second feature win of the season at DCRP over a stout field of 33 competitors. With Money gridding the Sport Modified Mayhem main event outside the third row, Gruber outgunned Michael Shenberger to snare the early lead from the pole position. Money made his way to third behind Gruber and Angel Munoz by the time the first caution flew after four laps and then took second from Munoz on the eighth circuit.
