Summer Sizzle is Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park

The 9th World IMCA Modifieds headline the June 6 Summer Sizzle along with a full slate of Arizona Differential Pure Stocks, Scottsdale Muffler & Automotive Renegades, Micro Sprints, Dwarf Cars and Mini Stocks. Racing action gets under way at 7 p.m. While defending track champion Ricky Thornton Jr. topped the most recent 9th World Vapor IMCA Modified event on May 9, it’s Shawn Zelenka out to the points lead with a slim four-point lead over Garett Funk. Bo Partain is just another three points back in the Modified title chase with George Fronsman and Bryson Curry also among the top five.

Cottage Grove hosts June 6 Kids Night

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Race fans ages 12 and under get in free for Kids’ Night this Saturday, June 6 at Cottage Grove Speedway. Curtis Towns joined the winner’s list for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds last week. Jesse Williamson and Kinzer Cox are still tied atop the 2015 chart with two wins each. Braedon Hand has also won once. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the front gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at approximately 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

Rauen outruns Droste at Marshalltown for first Deery Series win

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 2) – Two drivers looking for career first Deery Brothers Summer Series feature wins squared off Tuesday night at Marshalltown Speedway and it was Jason Rauen going home with the trophy and a check for $3,500. Rauen reeled in Tyler Droste on the 42nd lap of the Miller Lite 50 tour event for IMCA Late Models, then pulled ahead to win by four car lengths. Jeff Aikey, Scott Fitzpatrick and Justin Kay completed the top five. “It feels pretty good to get this win. Osborn dominates IMCA Modified main at Lincoln County

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (May 30) – Colton Osborn put on a dominating performance in winning Saturday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature event at Lincoln County Raceway. After an early caution, Osborn charged to the front on the second lap and never looked back. John Hansen came from deep in the field to take runner-up honors with third place money going to Jay Steffens. Casey Woken took the point on the seventh circuit from eventual runner-up Casey Werkmeister and drove to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers. Mikey Dancer’s efforts were rewarded with a third place finish. Grabbing the lead at halfway, Chad Dolan of Gibbon attempted to run away and hide to cruise to the win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. Bruns gets first SportMod win at Off Road Speedway

(May 30) – The Saturday main event at Off Road Speedway that garnered the most attention featured a one-on-one duel between two Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod racers looking for a first-time victory. Dylan Pospisil and Troy Bruns battled before a caution during the 10th lap, and subsequent restart, presented Bruns with an option that helped him seize the lead and, ultimately, the win. With Pospisil at the “point” and other cars aligned side-by-side behind him, Bruns had the choice of positioning his car on the inside or the outside, and his choice of the outside keyed his opportunity. “My thinking was that he was so smooth on the bottom, I couldn’t beat him down there; he wasn’t messing up at all,” Bruns said. “The only way I could beat him was taking the top.” Two laps after the restart Bruns accelerated coming out of turn two and passed Pospisil on the outside going into the backstretch. Kenny collects first IMCA win and $5,000 at Route 66 Southern SportMod special

AMARILLO, Texas (May 30) – Brandon Kenny couldn’t have picked a better night for his career first Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod feature win. Kenny led every lap of Route 66 Motor Speedway’s topless special Saturday evening, earning $5,000 for his main event efforts. The win came in a Ramirez Race Car he and Modified driver Cole Traugott built in his hometown of Woodward, Okla. RRC teammate Mike Roach finished a straightaway off the pace, taking runner-up honors despite a broken right front shock. Kent Lewis Sr. Classic is Saturday at Gator Motorplex

WILLIS, Texas – Gator Motorplex honors one of its own this weekend at the second annual Kent Lewis Sr. Classic. The veteran driver will be among the Southern United Sprint Series drivers running in the $1,000 to win, minimum $325 to start non-winged event on Saturday, June 6. Ruter races to Skip Rose Memorial checkers at I-35

MASON CITY, Iowa (May 31) – Ryan Ruter raced to another $1,000 payday ay I-35 Speedway, topping the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature in Sunday’s rescheduled Skip Rose Memorial. Ruter started the 20-lapper from the fifth spot and had the lead when the third circuit was scored. The race stayed green until a car spun and came to a stop in the first set of turns, forcing a green, white, checkered finish. Ruter pulled away to beat Jesse Hoeft to the finish by five car lengths. “We knew we had to get to the lead pretty quick,” said Ruter, who’d swept Frostbuster specials at Hancock County Speedway and I-35 in April. “Everything worked out for us.” Kelly Shryock started 11th and finished third. Quad City’s rescheduled Reinhart Memorial is this Sunday

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (June 2) – First place in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature pays $1,500 at Quad City Speedway’s Sunday, June 7 Gary Reinhart Memorial. The 22nd annual special is a 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and was rescheduled due to inclement weather from May 24. The main event pays a minimum of $125 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Belleville Motorsports North Central Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded for the draw/redraw show.
