BMS Mods by Xtreme begins fifth season as IMCA Modified North Central Region sponsor

GREAT BEND, Kan. – BMS Mods by Xtreme Motor Sports is back for a fifth consecutive season as title sponsor of the North Central Region for Modifieds, and for the 15th season as an IMCA marketing partner. Xtreme Motor Sports purchased the Belleville, Kan., chassis builder earlier this year. BMS by Xtreme will furnish a portion of a $6,000 point fund to be paid out to top 10 drivers in the region comprised by tracks in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Saskatchewan, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The champion earns $2,500, with $1,250 for second, $625 for third, $325 for fourth, $300 for fifth and $200 for sixth through 10th. Different drivers have now won the North Central Region crown in each of the last 14 years. New season at Kennedale opens with Spring Kick-Off

KENNEDALE, Texas – IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars get top billing at Kennedale Speedway Park’s season-opening Spring Kick-Off Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27-28. There’s a first-place check of $1,000 with a minimum of $150 paid to start in the winged division on opening night. Running both nights are Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds for $500 to win and $75 to start and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods for $500 to win and $60 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Modified and Stock Car regional, and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. There is no entry fee. Pit passes are $30. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for military and seniors, $5 for kids 6-11 and free for five and under. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Luxemburg inducts three into hall of fame in June

LUXEMBURG, Wis. – A trio of former drivers representing stock car racing from the 1970’s through the 1990’s will be inducted into Luxemburg Speedway’s Hall of Fame on June 3, during “Life In The Past Lane” night at the races at the 1/3-mile clay oval. Luxemburg’s own Roy Ihlenfeld and Jerry Jonet, along with Kewaunee’s John Gregorich will be inducted into the speedway’s class of 2016 Hall of Fame during a ceremony at intermission. A number of former track champions from yesteryear will be on hand, along with several restored, vintage racecars. Wojtek is Friday night IMCA Modified hero at Ice Breaker

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 19-20) – Fred Wojtek broke the ice with his career first Ice Breaker win Friday at Abilene Speedway. Wojtek moved from eighth to fourth for an early restart, took the lead on the fifth circuit and led to the end of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified 20-lapper. A single caution interrupted the second half of the race as he pulled away to win by half a straightaway. “Finally … it was a good start to the season,” said Wojtek, $700 richer for his efforts. “The last two years I’ve been second in points here. New promotional era begins at Skyline Raceway Park

CORTLAND, N.Y. – One era has ended and another begun at Skyline Raceway Park. Former track champion Dean Catlin and his wife Donna have purchased the facility from Frank and Audrey Payne, who had operated the 3/8-mile clay oval for 28 years. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds return to Saturday night programs beginning April 23. The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season at Cortland runs through Turbo Blue championship night on Sept. 17. The former Skyline Raceway has been IMCA sanctioned longer than any other track in New York and will crown a Modified champion for the 20th consecutive season in 2016. “This division is a lot different than most of the other cars around here,” Catlin noted. “They run on those narrow Hoosier tires and there’s a lot of talent needed to hook them up. PEORIA, Ariz. – Canyon Speedway Park’s Desert Classic moves to an early-point season date in 2016, with a top prize of $5,000 for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds on the line at the Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27 special. The Desert Classic feature pays a minimum of $300 to start and is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event. The entry fee of $100 will be payable at the gate. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps follow the 5 p.m. drivers’ meeting at racing starts at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $18 for adults, $6 for kids ages 7-13 and free for six and under. Details finalized for $10,001 to win Legendary event

Schoenfeld Headers is new to national decal program for IMCA Modifieds

VAN BUREN, Ark. – Long-time sponsor Schoenfeld Headers is new to the national decal program for IMCA’s biggest division. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified drivers will be required to display two Schoenfeld decals on their race cars to be eligible for shares of national and regional point fund money.
