LOCKWOOD, Mo. – Drivers in all divisions sanctioned by IMCA enjoy the support of Kluhsman Racing Components again this season. Most notably, the Lockwood, Mo., manufacturer returns to national decal programs for both Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods and gives $75 product certificates to top 10 drivers in final point standings for both divisions. Riley rules Raceway Park’s Jim Johnson Memorial

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 15) – Dave Riley got the best of a stellar field of IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, at Raceway Park’s Jim Johnson Memorial. Riley matched the highest-paying wins of his career with the $1,000 Sunday night checkers. Front row starter Tony Fetterman had shot to the lead and held off various challengers throughout three restarts. Following the fourth caution, Riley made his move on the outside in turns three and four to take over up front. A late caution resulted in a green, white, checkered finish and Riley denied a final charge by Fetterman to take the victory, his third this season at Jefferson including opening night of the South Dakota Spring Nationals. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint cars join Badlands Motor Speedway’s Saturday lineup

BRANDON, S.D. – Good things are in store this season for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car drivers and fans of the winged division at Badlands Motor Speedway. The sanctioned division returns to weekly shows at the much-renovated dirt facility in Brandon. Opening night is Saturday, May 28. “Saturday is going to be a big night for racing around here and we’re glad to have the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars part of that,” said promoter Tom Savage. “We love this division and we love the affordability.” Constructed in 1954 and open every season but two since, the former Huset’s Speedway was purchased by Chuck Brennan of the Badlands Entertainment Group last spring. Day has best night in Sprint Series of Texas show at Boothill Speedway

GREENWOOD, La. (May 14) – Jeff Day crossed the state line to race his way to victory lane in a second IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car tour Saturday night. Day topped the Sprint Series of Texas feature at Louisiana’s Boothill Speedway, outrunning Jason Howell to the checkers. Day’s son Michael, Dustin Woods and Ty Johnson completed the top five. The 25-lapper was interrupted by just a single caution and the frontrunners had to negotiate traffic much of the way. Michael Day started on the pole, directly in front of his father, and led early. PRO Shocks awards in post-season plans for drivers in five IMCA divisions

BOONVILLE, Ind. – Post-season contingency awards from PRO Shocks go to drivers in five IMCA divisions again in 2016. The Boonville, Ind., company gives a set of four PRO shocks to the IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car national champion and product certificates to IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod competitors. Product certificates valued at $300, $200 and $100 go to top three eligible drivers in the two regions for Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, and in final national standings for Northern SportMods and Southern SportMods. Hinrichs, Stewart drive to West Liberty wins

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (May 14) – Racing action went on Saturday night at the West Liberty Raceway as nearly 100 race car drivers packed the pit area on a very blustery chilly mid-May evening. In the iWireless IMCA Late Model 25 lap feature it was Kyle Hinrichs scoring his third career feature win. Hinrichs took the lead at the green flag from his outside front row start and went on to lead the caution-free race the entire 25 laps. Cayden Carter ran a very close second in the early going before settling for the runner-up spot at the checkers by a couple car lengths. Jonathan Brauns turned in a great run in taking third. In only his second night ever in a race car, Derrick Stewart showed he has a bright career ahead of him in scoring a very impressive 20-lap feature win in the very tough Performance Concepts IMCA Modified division. Callahan cashes in at Quad City Deery

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 15) – What looked to be another night for a Deery Brothers Summer Series rookie to shine ended with veteran Joel Callahan in victory lane instead Sunday at Quad City Speedway. First-year IMCA Late Model tour driver Cayden Carter led the first 32 times around the East Moline oval before Callahan caught up and led to the $2,000 checkers. Carter ended in second while Tyler Droste, the winner at Quad City last July and 2015 series rookie of the year, took third. “We can usually run the low side when we need to and it worked well for us tonight,” Callahan said following his career fourth series victory, and first away from Farley Speedway. “There were a couple times at midway when I got alongside but couldn’t get past. Schmidt snaps up Boone feature win

BOONE, Iowa (May 14) – After suffering mechanical issues in last week’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, Jay Schmidt got back on track and snapped up the feature win Saturday at Boone Speedway. Schmidt slid under Michael Murphy out of turn four to take the lead at lap six and never looked back from there on his way to the checkers. Terry Pruitt finished second and Rod Richards came from 11th starting to finish third. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified driver Mike Van Genderen started ninth and ran down pole sitter Joel Bushore in the 20-lap main event, pursuing him relentlessly from lap six, and finally making the pass with a handful of laps remaining. (May 13) – After nearly four long years, Red River Valley Speedway was resurrected Friday night to the delight of hundreds of dedicated race fans, who braved wind chills that approached 30 degrees.
