Edelbrock renews awards program for five IMCA divisions

TORRANCE, Calif. – Claim engine competitors in general and Stock Car regional champions in particular are beneficiaries of Edelbrock’s 2016 contingency awards program with IMCA. Highest finishing claim drivers in point standings for each of the five Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified regions receive 2975 Victor Jr. intakes from the Torrance, Calif., company. The highest finishing claim engine drivers in both IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock regions and in national Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod points have a choice between 2701 Chevrolet, 7121 Ford and 2176 Chrysler intakes. Second through fifth place claim engine drivers in each Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock region, and in national Northern and Southern SportMod standings all receive $50 product certificates. Thornton wins again at Southern Iowa

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 25) – For the first time this season, Mother Nature cooperated and Southern Iowa Speedway got two consecutive nights in. Feature winners were Ricky Thornton Jr. in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, Cayden Carter in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Dustin Griffiths in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Brett Lowry in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Jake Benischek in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Dennis LaVeine had the Modified lead early with Andrew Schroeder running second and Zack Vander Beek and Thornton working their way through the field. Vander Beek had worked his way to the front just before a caution on lap seven. Thornton used the ensuing restart to his advantage, driving by for the lead and eventual win. Can-Am Shootout passing clinics pay off for Hagen and Schroeder

WILLISTON, N.D. (May 20-21) – After putting on a pair of passing clinics, Travis Hagen and Chris Schroeder proved they knew how to stay at the front. Hagen won the Friday opener and Schroeder took the Saturday checkers at Williston Basin Speedway’s Can-Am Shootout. Both drivers earned $1,000 for their Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victories and a berth on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational accompanied Schroeder’s checkers. Hagen was already vote eligible, having won a Can-Am show last summer. Jason Wolla was runner-up both nights, by half a car length on Friday and by two car lengths on Saturday. Dubuque Speedway to host Tri-Track Challenge

Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models will tackle the high banks of Dubuque Speedway on Sunday, May 29 with a 50-lap main event headlining the racing program with the winner pocketing a cool $2,000. In addition to the high-powered Late Models the Merfeld Brothers Auto IMCA Modifieds, GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Stock Cars will all be in action. URSS Rebels ready for Colorado/Kansas tripleheader weekend

BYERS, Colo. – The 2016 United Rebel Sprint Series returns to Colorado Motorsports Park Saturday night. The 3/8-mile oval hosted several events last season and will host the second of eight races in 2016. The Colorado region is thick with talent, both young guns and seasoned veterans and looks to be ultra-competitive again this season. In the last visit to the CMSP oval, 18 racers made the trek with Zac Taylor scoring his first victory of the 2016 URSS/IMCA EMI RaceSaver Series Colorado Region. Mark Walinder, Jed Werner, Adam Trimble and Austin McLean rounded out the top five. Drivers from Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma are also expected to make the trip to Colorado for an action-packed night. BOONE, Iowa (May 24) – Boone Speedway rolls out the red carpet on Memorial Day for the traditional holiday visit by the Deery Brothers Summer Series. The Monday, May 30 show marks the 45th appearance at Boone by the IMCA Late Model tour. This will be the 14th event to be held there on Memorial Day. Two thousand dollars will be paid to win and a minimum of $300 paid to start the main event.
