Brodix marks 20th season as IMCA marketing partner

MENA, Ark. – A company that’s been helping IMCA drivers race their way to the national banquet will be recognized with an award of its own this November. Brodix is in its 20th season as an IMCA marketing partner. The Mena, Ark., company manufactures the official cylinder heads for IMCA Late Models. Both the national Late Model and IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car rookie of the year, and the Deery Brothers Summer Series rookie of the year receive Brodix cylinder head sets again in 2016. Clay County, Boyd cancel Friday shows

VINTON, Iowa – Due to the threat of additional rain, the Friday, June 3 race program at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer has been canceled. The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season resumes at Spencer next Friday, June 10. Boyd, Texas, Raceway also canceled its Friday program due to rain.

Noll, Miller sweep John Morris Classic IMCA features

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (May 28-29) – Jason Noll and Trevor Miller both went 2-for-2 at Arizona Speedway’s Memorial Weekend John Morris Classic. Noll picked up both $1,000 to win Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified features while Miller swept the $600 to win Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main events. Noll raced from 10th starting to win Saturday’s caution-free 20-lapper and earn a spot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “I had a pretty good car. Strange Oval awards cash, certificates at 30 special events for IMCA Modifieds

MORTON GROVE, Ill. – A top five finisher at 30 special events for IMCA Modifieds gets both a $50 product certificate and $50 in cash from Strange Oval again this season. All awards are mailed from the IMCA home office the week after official race results are received. Product certificates are redeemable through Performance Bodies. Burke, Hogge split Santa Maria Spring Nationals features

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (May 28-29) – Their 2-1/2 hour holiday weekend trips south on Highway 101 saw Salinas drivers Cody Burke and Bobby Hogge IV in victory lane at Santa Maria Raceway. Burke topped the Saturday Budweiser Spring Nationals main event for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds while Hogge paced the Sunday show. Both events paid $1,000 to win. The opening night checkers were the first of 2016 for Burke, who hoped the victory would help jump start an otherwise challenging early season, while Hogge scored IMCA win number seven on the year. After drawing the outside pole start on Saturday, Burke made the most of the lower line and led all 25 laps. Kids’ Night is Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – After a busy weekend for the Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic, Cottage Grove Speedway returns for racing on Saturday, June 4. The event is billed as Kids’ Night, which means young fans ages 12 and under get in to the grandstand for free. There is also going to be a bike giveaway during intermission with several bikes for all different ages. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are on the evening’s card. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the front gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at approximately 6:30 p.m.

IMCA Late Models chase $1,000 check June 16 at Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa – IMCA Late Models race for $1,000 to win when they join the weekly race program at Kossuth County Speedway on Thursday, June 16. The runner-up takes home $600 with $400 for third, $300 for fourth, $250 for fifth, $200 for sixth and a minimum of $175 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded to drivers looking to turn laps at the Algona oval before returning for the July 7 Deery Brothers Summer Series event. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. There is no entry fee and pit passes are $25. Spectator admission is $10 for adults and free for ages 14 and under. Ebert wins first career SportMod feature

(May 28) – Sporting a big smile and a Clintonville Trucker football shirt, 16-year-old Jason Ebert posed in victory lane after scoring his first career Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature in only his second night of racing at Shawano Speedway. The feature saw Brianna Ambroziak and Brandon Nygaard battle for the lead at the drop of the green flag. The pair raced side-by-side for the first two laps of the race before Ambroziak began to pull away just a bit from the rest of the field. While Ambroziak led, Nygaard began to feel some heat from Ebert for second. Ebert cleared Nygaard on lap eight. On lap 10, Ambroziak lost the handle on the car in turn four and spun, bringing out the caution and handing the lead to Ebert. Though it was only his second night of racing at Shawano, Ebert looked like a seasoned veteran holding the lead for the duration of the race. Osborn climbs ladder to top of Lincoln County podium

Outrunning the storm with the fastest to earn a trip to the winners circle were Colton Osborn, Dillon Schultz, Casey Werkmeister, Shawn Slezak and Erik Nelson. Working his way through traffic and going to the top groove to snare the lead, Osborn drove to the point and earned the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory. Osborn worked the bottom groove for much of his run to second place before going up the ladder a rung on the 12th lap that took him into the lead. Wernette wins Tri-City Modified main

AUBURN, Mich. (May 27) – Chad Wernette posted Tri-City Motor Speedway win number one on the season in the Friday feature for Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modifieds. Rich Young started alongside Aaron Spearling on the front row for the money race. Young led the initial four laps before 40-year veteran Joe Fowler took the point. He led the next nine laps before Wernette pulled up to challenge. After working his way up from 11th starting, Wernette finally passed Fowler and cruised to his first victory of 2016 at TCMS. Fowler had to settle for second and was closely followed by Kody Johnson, Ken Zeigler and Toby Steele.
