Zeitner stars at Park Jefferson

JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 27) – Justin Zeitner prevailed over a star-studded IMCA Modified field in Saturday’s $1,000 to win Clash main event at Park Jefferson Speedway. Zeitner, already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, tracked down Jay Noteboom, who had won the previous night at Jackson and had a $1,000 bonus riding on him. Zeitner prevailed after a long battle with Noteboom. Josh Most, Ricky Stephan and Kelly Shryock completed the top five. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars made their inaugural appearance at the track a good one as drivers went green, white, checkered. Colin Smith picked up the feature win over John Lambertz and Kaleb Johnson. Travis Barker picked up the J & J Fitting IMCA Stock Car win to end Elijah Zevenbergen’s perfect streak. Bennett takes first Stuart checkers

STUART, Iowa (May 26) – Solomon Bennett won for the first time at Stuart Speedway, in Friday’s IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event. Bennett and David McQuiston led the field to green with Bennett getting the early lead. McQuiston and Jack Phillips ran second and third, but Bennett was running away with the race until a yellow came out on lap 12. Bennett never looked back on the restate and took his first-ever win at Stuart. McQuiston finished a career best second with Brandon Cox third. Other winners were Nick Roberts in the IMCA Modifieds, Brandon Pruitt in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Kody Havens in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and John Gill in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Harris wins again at Shenandoah

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (May 27) – Tony Harris raced his way back to victory lane at Shenandoah Speedway Saturday night, when the Virginia Sprint Series returned for a Memorial Weekend show. Bill Rice and Harris paced the field to green and Rice ways out first and staying low but Harris got a run and on lap three was scored first with Anthony Linkenhoker following into second. Rice’s brakes began to fade and Jerald Harris went by for third. Linkenhoker kept going low to work on the leader lap after lap but could only stay on his bumper and fell just short. Christensen capitalizes at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 25) – Clayton Christensen took advantage of traffic in winning Thursday’s IMCA Modified feature at Kossuth County Speedway. Mike Jergens, along with Austin Wolf and Christensen had made a three-car breakaway. With two laps to go, the trio came upon the cars at the back of the pack and Christensen took advantage of that as he slid past Jergens coming out of the final turn for the win. Jake Masters and Elijah Zevenbergen battled door-to-door for three straight laps before Zevenbergen edged ahead with three laps to go and survived a late yellow to take the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory. A field of 21 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods was on hand and Nick Meyer showed he was the top of this field on the evening as he led the whole race. The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks had a field of 20 cars for a feature dominated by Kyle Ricke, who led all 12 laps. Hunter Benson was the Mach-1 Sport Compact winner.

Near is far and away fastest at Tri-City

(May 26) – Timmy Near took the lead on the fourth lap, then held on through late restarts to win Friday’s Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified feature at Tri-City Motor Speedway. Marriott drives away to $2,000 IMCA Modified payday at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (May 28) – Hunter Marriott was the best in a field of 48 IMCA Modifieds Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. The weekly program served as a prelude to Monday’s season opener for the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour in Vinton. After redrawing the number two pill, Marriott quickly pulled away from Scott Hogan at the start of the 30-lapper. A pair of mid-race cautions didn’t slow the leader as Marriott built a larger advantage following each stoppage. In the end, Marriott took the checkers over a straightaway ahead of Richie Gustin and Jimmy Gustin. Both Gustins and J.D. Auringer worked the low side past Scott Hogan late to complete the top four. Marriott, already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, earned $2,000 for his win. Casey’s General Store marks fifth season of support for Super Nationals, Deery Series

ANKENY, Iowa – The Official Convenience Store of IMCA marks its fifth season of sponsorship in 2017, continuing invaluable support of Super Nationals and the Deery Brothers Summer Series. Casey’s General Store continues its presenting sponsor role for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals, scheduled Sept. 4-9 at Boone Speedway. Casey’s also returns as title sponsor for the redraw at each IMCA Late Model tour main event. The 2017 season is the second in the latest three-year partnership agreement between Casey’s and IMCA. Casey’s and IMCA both donate $10 to Hope for the Warriors on behalf of each heat winner during the week of Super Nationals. Mother Nature wins again at Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 26) – The IMCA Modified Madness 50 special, scheduled for tonight (Friday) at Davenport Speedway, has been rained out for a second time. The event has now been rescheduled for Friday, July 14. Next Friday, June 2, weekly point racing returns to Davenport Speedway. All four classes will be in action, the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models, Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds, Koehler Electric Street Stocks and the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods. In addition, that evening is the first Kids’ Night of 2017. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free when accompanying a paid adult. Bike races will be held during intermission. Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport. Carter collects two at Osky

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 24) – Cayden Carter was a double winner Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway, topping features for the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds and the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars. The third different leader in the Modified main, Carter held off Derrick Stewart in a green, white, checkered finish. His last-lap surge allowed Carter to edge Nathan Wood at the line for his first local win in the Stock Car class. Shannon Anderson held off Bill Bonnett for his third win in as many KBOE Radio/Mahaska Bottling IMCA Hobby Stock outings this season and Daniel Fellows became a three-time Kelli Steil State Farm IMCA Sport Compact feature winner.
