All-Star drivers add to lengthy list of IMCA accomplishments

BOONE, Iowa (July 28) – The first 15 IMCA Modified drivers elected to start the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational bring an already lengthy list of accomplishments to the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Two-time defending race winner Jimmy Gustin, 2012 winner Jordan Grabouski and 2014 winner Kyle Strickler are among that elite group, announced this afternoon. Defending Super Nationals champion Ricky Thornton Jr. was the top vote getter. He’ll be joined in representing the Larry Shaw Racing Western Region by Ethan Dotson and Ricky Alvarado. Lawn seating available for Driver Appreciation Night at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – All of southwest Kansas and beyond is abuzz about this Friday’s “Driver Appreciation Night” event at Dodge City Raceway Park. With drivers doling out tickets to the event to enhance their chances at landing the bigger prizes that will be awarded during the evening, a capacity crowd is expected to fill the grandstands and possibly then some. To accommodate the crowd, the grassy area to the north of the grandstand seating area will be available to use for lawn chair seating on Friday night. Dubuque checkers make Kay first to repeat in IMCA Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour

DUBUQUE, Iowa (July 25) – Justin Kay’s drive to victory lane following the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour feature at Dubuque Speedway started back home in the shop. Kay led the last 11 of 30 laps in winning the Tuesday IMCA Modified main event, on opening night of the county fair. The $1,200 tour victory was Kay’s career fourth, his second of the season and put him on the ballot for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “We made a bunch of changes in the shop. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 22) – Ken Schrader still displays the victory lane check he received after winning the feature in his first visit to I-30 Speedway nine years ago. IMCA focused on best event in Super Nationals history

BOONE, Iowa – Drivers and fans won’t see a lot of changes in the facility or the format when they pull into Boone Speedway for the Sept. 4-9 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. And IMCA President Brett Root believes that’s a good thing. “There are no race night changes. There were no major changes to the speedway since last year’s Super Nationals. Long trip to Arlington pays off for Sprint winner Smith

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 22) – Trevor Smith made the 2-1/2 hour trek to Arlington Raceway pay off, leading all 15 laps of Saturday’s 95.7 the Rock IMCA RaceSaver Sprint car feature for his career-first win in the division. It was a proud moment for his father Jim, who was track champion in 1988 at Arlington, where he motored his no. 33s sprint car around the ½-mile and picked up his own first feature win 29 years ago. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals has early entries from 11 states

EAGLE, Neb. – Entries for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals are already in hand from 11 states. More than 100 drivers are anticipated to compete at the fifth annual event Aug. 31-Sept. 3 at Eagle Raceway. Sprint Nationals begins with an open house and practice on Thursday, Aug. 31. The starting field of 27 will be determined through qualifying on Sept. 1 and 2 and in last-chance qualifying on Sept. 3. Sunday’s main event pays $2,500 to win and a minimum $1,250 to start, plus a generous number of contingency awards. Friday and Saturday qualifying features both pay $700 to win while Saturday’s Jake Ita Memorial pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 23) – Jim Thies pulled away in the waning laps to win Sunday’s Total Motor IMCA Modified feature at Raceway Park. Jason Schneiders was a close second. Hammond Motorsports has new awards for IMCA Modified, Northern SportMod specials

DeWITT, Iowa – A company that will ship to all 50 states and eight foreign countries looks to build its customer base even more with a new IMCA awards program. Hammond Motorsports of DeWitt, Iowa, gives $75 product certificates, good toward the purchase of a set of chassis set-up plates, to top five finishers at each of 45 IMCA Modified and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod special events.
