EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Justice Brothers and Gillund Enterprises make every driver starting on the pole a winner throughout the 2018 Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour. Linkenhoker leads the way in Virginia Sprint Series opener

By Jim Haines NATURAL BRIDGE, Va. (April 14) – Spring finally sprung for the Virginia Sprint Series and Anthony Linkenhoker sped to the IMCA RaceSaver victory Saturday at Natural Bridge Speedway. Mike Keeton challenged throughout in a contest that ran caution-free and ended in second. Daren Bolac was third in the series opener, postponed a week because of winter-like weather. Linkenhoker and Keeton paced the field to green with Linkenhoker out first, Keeton close behind and Tony Harris up to third. Bolac got by Harris and went after Keeton lap after lap, but the bottom was the place to be and he stayed there. Linkenhoker stayed smooth up front even as he caught the rear of the field and that was all he needed to do as he drove under the waving checkered flag. Lawton RaceSaver Sprint show falls to weather

(April 14) – Saturday’s Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products/Hoosier Racing Tires Southwest event at Lawton Speedway was canceled due to blustery weather conditions. Both IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series and track officials are working on a possible makeup date. The next SSO event will take place Friday, April 20 at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore.

New promoter already knows his way around Montezuma County Speedway

CORTEZ, Colo. – The track where Robert Reed began his racing career is the same track where he’ll begin his promotional career. Reed is the new promoter at Montezuma County Fairgrounds Speedway. He’s been associated with the 3/8-mile clay oval at Cortez in one capacity or another since day one. Six Friday-Saturday doubleheaders are on the schedule this season for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and IMCA SportMods. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 13) – The bad new from Marshalltown Speedway is that bad weather is the winner of the Frostbuster special scheduled for tonight (Friday). Marshalltown now opens for the season with the Thursday and Friday, April 19 and 20 Twin Highbanks Hustle show. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win in their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods run for $500 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300 to win both nights. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Iowa State points will be given each night. Track points will also be awarded on Friday. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Carter cashes in with last-lap pass at Benton County Frostbuster

VINTON, Iowa (April 12) – The last lap of Thursday’s IMCA Modified Frostbuster feature at Benton County Speedway was worth the price of admission all by itself. Cayden Carter reeled in long-time leader Hunter Marriott, taking the lead at the white flag and staying in front to the finish of the 25-lap, $1,000 to win main event. “It was a great race. I tried the high side and then went back to the bottom,” said Carter, newly qualified for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “You don’t get a chance to win a big race like this very often.” Marriott took charge following an early restart with Carter and Kyle Brown swapping second behind him. Carter finally secured the spot with nine laps left and gradually cut into Marriott’s advantage. Deery Series Rebel 5K at Davenport to be rescheduled

DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 13) – Friday the 13th wasn’t so lucky for the Deery Brothers Summer Series and Davenport Speedway’s Rebel 5K. Tonight’s $5,000 to win IMCA Late Model tour event at Davenport has been declared a rainout. Track officials plan to reschedule the event. The 32nd annual series now opens on Saturday, April 21 at Cedar County Raceway in Tipton with a $2,000 to win, minimum $300 to start show. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Iowa State points, as well as series points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. with racing to follow. Sunset ignites the engines this Saturday

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – The 2018 racing season will officially start this Saturday, April 14 at Sunset Speedway Park. IMCA Modifieds will challenge at Banks Bullring for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, Oregon State and track points. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the front gate opens at 4 p.m. Racing is at 6:30 p.m. Race Director Justin Thomas says there are only a couple of differences from last year but for the most part everything will remain the same. “Mike Watson will be back in the flagstand this year,” commented Thomas. “I will be up in the tower help running the RACEceivers. At practice we had a great turnout and the track was beautiful, which I think is a good sign for the season to come.” Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 for seniors, military and juniors ages 13-17.
