First from Oregon to qualify, Ferrando has sights on return to Modified dance at Super Nationals

STAYTON, Ore. – Grey Ferrando made history last September as the first driver from Oregon to qualify for the Modified main event at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Gustin capitalizes on late-race opportunity for Dirt Knights Tour triumph at Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 1) – In the right place at the right time, Richie Gustin won Thursday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour main event at Kossuth County Speedway. A bobble with three laps left by Jeremy Mills opened the door for Gustin, who zoomed by to take the $1,500 checkers and his fourth win of the 2019 IMCA Modified tour. Mills ended second in the caution-free contest. Austin Wolf, Ryan Ruter and Corey Dripps completed the top five in the county fair show. Hard charger Cody Laney advanced 10 positions. BOONE, Iowa – Drivers competing at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s will leave Boone Speedway with more than $7,000 in cash bonuses, lap money and gift cards. The 37th annual Super Nationals runs Sept. 2-7. Bonuses, lap leader money and gift cards paid out during the week complement the regular purse for the biggest and best event in all of dirt track racing. Quick Performance gives $100 bonuses to the winners of three qualifying features for Hobby Stocks, three qualifying features for Northern SportMods and six Stock Car qualifying features. Shawano Races for a Reason Saturday night

On Saturday, Racing for a Reason took center stage as the amazing fans and race teams at Shawano Speedway worked together to raise money for the fight against childhood cancer. Mark Weisnicht grabbed the lead from his front row starting spot and never give it up on his way to an $800 IMCA Modified payday. Marcus Yarie moved into second and kept the pressure on to the finish but not have enough to get around Weisnight. ALGONA, Iowa – The Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour returns to Kossuth County Speedway for top billing at the Thursday, Aug. 1 county fair show. Traveling IMCA Modifieds run for $1,500 to win, plus a 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods all run for $1,000 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts complete the program at Algona. (July 27) – Ken Duke Jr. capped a perfect racing weekend with a late pass for the lead and his second straight hometown victory in Saturday’s 20-lap Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. The Selinsgrove IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win followed Duke’s victory Friday at Clinton County Motor Speedway and was his seventh of the year in PASS competition; he also has won with the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series. “The track didn’t slick off quite as much as I thought it would for the feature,” Duke said in victory lane, “so we were a little tight at the beginning, but the longer we ran, the better we got. Aug. 23 is deadline for Super Nationals pit stall reservations

BOONE, Iowa – Pit stall reservations for the 37th annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s must be made by noon on Friday, Aug. 23. Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod drivers must be pre-entered before they make pit stall reservations. Pit stalls at Boone Speedway are $100 and must be reserved online. In the event a driver does not show up as scheduled, their pit stall will be issued to another driver. A waiting list will be started for overflow and drivers who cannot be accommodated will receive refunds. Pit stall reservations are not required for Late Models and Sport Compacts, which are both one-day programs. Estes best in Stock Car thriller at Bethany

By Rick Staley BETHANY, Mo. (July 27) – Jason Estes held off a succession of challengers to take the $1,262 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers Saturday at Bethany Speedway. After showing plenty of speed in winning his heat race, Estes motored into the lead and stayed in front to the checkers. Mike Van Genderen bounced back from a foray through the infield to finish second. Van Genderen has drawn the pole start with J.J. Baumli, winner of Friday’s Joe Crist Memorial Shootout event at US 36 Raceway on the outside. Van Genderen took the initial lead with Baumli challenging every inch of the way. OSKALOOSA, Iowa – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars return to Southern Iowa Speedway and the Front Row Challenge special on Monday, Aug. 5, running for $1,000 to win. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and E3 Spark Plugs Iowa State points will be awarded for the Badger Steel-sponsored event.
