Berry repeats, young Murty wins Family Feud at Benton County Speedway

By Jerry Mackey VINTON, Iowa (June 21) – Sunday night racing action was held at the Benton County Speedway despite afternoon showers that threatened the racing program. The rains stayed to the north allowing the racing to be held and a very fast program was held with the final checkered flag of the night waving at 7:52 pm. Tom Berry Jr. scored his second win of the season at The Bullring by topping a strong field of IMCA Modifieds in their 20-lap feature. Mark Schulte led the first half of the race until Berry was able to slide inside of him in turn four on lap 11. Berry cruised on to the win with Schulte holding off Ryan Duhme at the finish line. Gaylord, Hansen get IMCA Modified wins in first, 109th career Wild West Tour starts

ROCK SPRINGS, Wy. (June 19-20) – A driver making his first-ever tour start and a driver who’s never missed a tour event were weekend IMCA Modified winners at Sweetwater Speedway. Tripp Gaylord topped the Friday night 1st Class Chassis Wild West Tour feature, returning to Rock Springs to redress a runner-up finish on night two of May’s Rudy Yeager Memorial. Chase Hansen was the Saturday winner, collecting his career third checkers, and first since 2014, in his 109th tour start. Both drivers earned $1,200 and saw their names added to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. After starting fifth, Gaylord found the middle line to his liking on Friday. Burkhart rallies for Roundup win at Dodge City

(June 20) – The lights shone upon the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval on Saturday night for the first time in 2020 with Hays racer Tathan Burkhart cashing in by winning the 25-lap IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock Roundup. Rebounding from heat races issues, Burkhart rallied through the field from 15th and took command at the midway point en route to topping the Roundup after scoring six IMCA Hobby Stock wins at Dodge City last year. A multi-car battle for the point ensued in the early rounds before a multi-car tangle on lap eight eliminated much of the field. The battle continued on after the restart with Burkhart ultimately taking command on the 12th circuit and leading the rest of the way to the checkered flag ahead of Garrett Hager, Braxton Berry, Cody Williams and Duane Wahrman. Starting position doesn’t hinder Off Road Speedway winners

(June 20) – Brian Osantowski’s journey to the checkered flag was a bit longer than most of his Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod competitors, but what matters is that he got there. Starting on the inside of the sixth of eight rows Saturday at Off Road Speedway, Osantowski didn’t get to the front until the 12th of 16 scheduled circuits. Osantowski then held off bids from two other drivers who also started near the back, Kyle Prauner, who finished second after winning last week, and Colby Langenberg, who added a third place finish to a win and second-place finish the first two weeks of the season. “My car’s been working really good right now through the center where the traffic’s not at, so I can pick them off where they’re not racing, “ Osantowski explained. “That’s how I made it forward when I needed to, I just went where they weren’t, and that got me up to the front where I could work with the leader,” he said. Jerovetz, Knutson go back-to-back at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 20) – Troy Jerovetz and Eric Knutson repeated trips to victory lane Saturday at Boone Speedway. Jeff Mueller got the early race lead in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car 20-lap main event. He was quickly tailed by Jerovetz and then the race was on between the two. Mueller held on to that top spot until the final lap when Jerovetz was able to take the low road, grab the lead, and hang on to the flying checkers. Mueller held on to keep the runner-up spot. Then came three Smith brothers, David in third from starting 16th, Devin in fourth from 11th and Donavon from 15th to round out the top five. Setup changes pay I-37 dividends to Green

By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (June 20) – After setup changes galore from the heat to the feature, Rick Green Parked his IMCA Modified in victory lane Saturday night at I-37 Speedway. Green powered around the outside off turn two to get out front early on, trailed by Ryan Doyon, Logan Dinsmore, Chris Carroll and Donald Banker. Past track champion Greg Dinsmore got to fifth before a caution. On the restart Carroll began pressuring Logan Dinsmore for third. Green got away following the next restart while Logan Dinsmore was looking for a way past Doyon for second. A quick yellow on lap 12 set up a single file restart to the finish. As Green and Doyon cleared the way, Logan Dinsmore and Carroll began a five-lap, wheel-to-wheel, battle for third. Carroll, using the bottom, was finally able to get the spot. Bowers is quickest at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (June 20) – Steven Bowers Jr. made his Saturday night trip to the Quick Quarter of the Springfield Raceway worthwhile as he charged from the 10th starting spot and took the lead at the half way point to become the fourth different IMCA Modified feature winner in four races so far this season. The caution-free 20-lap feature featured three-wide racing the entire distance. Wilson, Rhodes race to first IMCA wins at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 19) – The weather held off for fans and racers who joined Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC for night number two. Fans were greeted to 128 cars doing battle. Hunter Parsons looked to be the man to beat early in the IMCA Modified feature as he pulled out to an early lead. Parsons paced the field with Jason Czarapata, Brian Mullen and Tyler Wilson giving chase. Czarapata’s night came to an abrupt end as his machine lost the right rear wheel just past the midway point. With the field bunched up Wilson went to work down low, wrestling the lead away on lap 14. Wilson pulled away for his first win in the Modified ranks. Parsons had to the settle for second at the pay window, Wyatt Block rallied to place third, Mullen was fourth and Marcus Yarie completed the top five. Online registration starts for 38th IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Drivers can now register online to be part of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The 38th annual Super Nationals, guaranteed to be the biggest, best and richest dirt track event of the IMCA season, will be held Sept. 7-12 at Boone Speedway. “This will be the third year we’ve required online registration for Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod and Sport Compact drivers.
