Fellow RaceSaver drivers help King get second Southern United Sprint feature win

CLEVELAND, Texas (July 4) – Daniel King had his quick thinking crew to thank for his first Southern United Sprints feature win of the season. He had his competition to thank for his second. King led all 25 laps of Saturday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Lawanda Cogburn Scorekeeper Memorial at 105 Speedway after breaking in hot laps and borrowing a driveshaft from Kent Lewis Sr. Lewis, Trey Schmidt and a host of King’s fellow drivers helped him get back on track for the heat. He finished second in that race, then started outside the front row in the feature and ran in lapped traffic much of the way but was not challenged Isaiah Garcia, Rod Craddock, Schmidt and Tyler Harris rounded out the top five. Johnson Memorial for Northern SportMods is Friday at Murray County

SLAYTON, Minn. – Murray County Speedway hosts its inaugural Brycen Johnson Memorial on Friday, July 10, paying $1,541 to win and a minimum of $241 to start the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main event. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts are also on the card at Slayton. There is no entry fee and pit passes are $30. Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. with racing to follow. Benton County Speedway race start time change

By Jerry Mackey VINTON, Iowa – Specialty Race Promotions, operators of Benton County Speedway, The Bullring, have made the decision to set the start time for the Sunday race programs back to 6 p.m. That change was made due to the difficulties of getting enough water into the track under the summer’s high sun, which has made for dusty conditions. The start time will be set back an hour which will not only allow better race conditions but will make for much more comfortable conditions for our loyal race fans. Effective this Sunday, July 12 the grandstands and pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps set to get underway at 6 p.m. with racing to follow.

Weekly racing continues Friday at U.S. 36

OSBORN, Mo. – The weekly racing championship chase continues this Friday, July 10 at U.S. 36 Raceway. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods all on the race night program. For this Friday, U.S. 36 Raceway has improved the payout for the Sprint Cars. The winner earns $600, second $500 and third $400, down to a minimum of $150 to start. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. The grandstands open at 6 p.m. with hot laps at 7:30 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m. Tickets for the event are $15 for general admission, $12 for senior and military and children 12 and younger are free. On Friday, July 24, Osborn hosts the fourth annual Joe Crist Memorial Stock Car Shootout. The IMCA Stock Cars are racing for $1,262 to win and $125 to start. Other bonuses up for grabs are $62 for a heat race win, $162 for the longest haul, $62 for drawing the 62 chip and a $62 hard luck award.

United Rebel Sprint Series on Wheatshocker Nationals card at RPM

HAYS, Kan. – The Mel Hambelton Ford Racing POWRi United Rebel Series will gear up for the 12th annual Wheatshocker Nationals at RPMS in Hays on July 11 and 12. This race has been a staple on the URSS schedule since 2008. The Sunday portion of the event will pay $2,000 to win and a minimum of $200 to start. Gates will open at 4 p.m. each day with hot laps slated to begin shortly after 6 p.m. and green flag action at 7 p.m.

Racing resumes Saturday at Springfield Quick Quarter

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After taking the weekend off for the July 4th holiday, the Quick Quarter of Springfield Raceway will be back in action this Saturday, July 11 with Bad Boy Mowers IMCA Modified action. The race for the track championship has so far been tight as there has yet to have a repeat winner on the high-banked ¼-mile dirt oval. So far in 2020, Ken Schrader, James Thompson, Trevor Drake, Steven Bowers Jr. and Jody Tillman have claimed feature wins. Diamond Mountain doubleheader sees Kennemore, Trenchard shine

(July 3-4) – Nevin Kennemore cashed in with his first IMCA Modified feature win of the season while Nick Trenchard returned to victory lane for a big win of his own on night two of the Independence Weekend special at Diamond Mountain Speedway. Kennemore led al 25 laps of the Friday feature, earning a career-best $1,500 payday and a spot of the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. After seeing a sizable lead erased by a late caution, his win came ahead of Mitch Murphy and Alec Childs. Already an All-Star candidate, Trenchard started fifth and had to hold off Ryan McDaniel and Cory Sample for the $2,000 checkers. The win was his second this season at Susanville. Deming gets IMCA Stock Car job done at Cardinal’s Sheen Memorial

EUNICE, N.M. (July 4) – Colby Deming got the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win he’s always wanted Saturday night. Deming led all 30 laps of Cardinal Speedway’s Kelly Sheen Memorial Shootout, taking home $1,500 along with the prestigious checkers. “This is a win I’ve wanted since I got in a Stock Car. It nice to finally get it,” said Deming, runner-up in the 2017 race and fifth last year. “I kept my car straight and clean and got the job done.” The win was the third this year for Deming, a two-time track champion at Cardinal now in his 13th season behind the wheel of the Hydrostatic-owned ride. Lumsden is July 4 IMCA Modified winner at Rattlesnake

A new face graced victory lane following the IMCA Modified feature as Wade Lumsden collected his first triumph of the season. Steve Evenson was the runner-up over third finishing Steven Anderson.
