Rain wins out at U.S. 36 Raceway for May 29

OSBORN, Mo. – Due to rain and saturated grounds, U.S. 36 Raceway officials have canceled racing for May 29.  Up next at U.S. 36 Raceway is the Bud Shootout featuring the Sprint Series of Nebraska and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstands open at 6 p.m., with hot laps at 7:30 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $18 for senior and military and children and 12 and younger are free.

United Rebel Sprint Series making Thunder Through the Plains stop at 81

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits PARK CITY, Kan. – Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing president Rick Salem has been busy. With counties and states slowly reopening, he has been on the phone contacting track promoters to give his “Rebels” a chance to hit the track.  He scored a marquee event as the tour will join the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All-Star Circuit of Champi­ons appearance at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., on Sunday, June 7.  This $700 to win, $200 to start event for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will be only the second race on the 2020 race season that has suffered through event cancelations and plenty of reschedul­ing. Two-time and defending series champion Zach Blurton won the season opener this past Saturday night at Salina Speedway. Benton County Speedway holds open practice Sunday, May 31

By Jerry Mackey   VINTON, Iowa – Sunday, May 31 will be an open practice session for all racers from 4-7 p.m. Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. at The Bullring located on the Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton.   The point racing season will open on June 7 with fans being allowed to attend the races. The racing action will get underway on June 7 with warmups slated to take to the track at 4:30 p.m. with racing to follow at 5 p.m.

No races at Independence this Saturday

By Jerry Mackey INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The officials of the Independence Motor Speedway have announced that races will not be held this Saturday, May 30 due to the Covid-19 restrictions still in place which does not allow fans to attend.   Racing will return to the Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 6 with fans being allowed in the grandstand. More information regarding the June 6 races will be announced in the very near future.

Ken Schrader joins IMCA Modifieds for Springfield opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Quick-Quarter of the Springfield Raceway has been given the green flag to get the 2020 race season underway as Ken Schrader will be in competition against the tough area IMCA Modified drivers this Saturday, May 30.  The pit gates will open at 3:45 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are slated to start at 6:15 with racing action slated at 6:45 p.m. Draw cut-off will be 6:10 p.m. Pit passes for adults are $35 with adult grandstand admission $15.  Social distancing guidelines will be in effect in the pits and the grandstand. Masks are optional and hand sanitizer will be available at the track. Track title quests continue at U.S. 36 Raceway

OSBORN, Mo. – With Modified Madness in the rear view mirror, the IMCA divisions racing for track championships continue the battle this Friday, May 29 at U.S. 36 Raceway.  IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern­SportMods are all set to hit the high banks. The pit gates open at 4 p.m. The grandstands open at 6 p.m., with hot laps at 7:30 and the first heat race at 8 p.m.  Tickets for the event are $15. $250 Sunoco bonus awaits IMCA Late Model winner at 34 Raceway

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – The payday got even better for the winner of Saturday’s main event for IMCA Sunoco Late Models at 34 Raceway.  The second $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus of the season will be paid to the May 30 Late Model winner at 34. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at Late Model sanctioned tracks this year. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the 2020 racing season. Jeff Aikey was the winner at Independence Motor Speedway last Saturday night. IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track.  While the grandstand will be closed, fans will have the opportunity to watch the night’s racing action by logging on to IMCA.tv or affiliate DoneRight.tv. The live streaming service will carry a one-time charge and will not require a membership to watch from the comfort of your living room. Hot laps are scheduled to take to the track at 6:15 p.m. with racing to follow.

CJ Speedway hosts racing action this Friday

By Jerry Mackey  COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa – CJ Speedway hosts a full program of racing this Friday night, with IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Mach-1 Sport Compacts on the May 29 card  All cars entering the pit area will be allowed to be accompanied by 10 patrons. Warm-ups are scheduled to take to the track at 7 p.m. CJ will comply with Covid-19 guidelines set forth by the Iowa governor. This means the grandstand will not be open. On Friday, June 5, CJ Speedway will host a full night of racing with the grandstand being open for the dedicated CJ Speedway fans.
