Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour online entries accepted starting June 1

MANDAN, N.D. – IMCA Modified and Stock Car drivers planning to follow the upcoming Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour can go on line to complete the early registration process beginning Wednesday, June 1. The 27th annual tour opens July 9 at Jamestown Speedway, then travels to Nodak Speedway on July 10, Estevan Motor Speedway on July 11, Williston Basin Speedway on July 12, Southwest Speedway on July 13 and Dacotah Speedway on July 14. All Modified features pay $2,200 to win, a minimum of $300 to start and are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events. No claim cards to be issued after May 31

VINTON, Iowa – Claim cards will not be issued to IMCA drivers in six divisions purchasing 2016 competitor’s licenses after Tuesday, May 31. The exception will be for any Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, SportMod or Sport Compact drivers who accepts a claim made at a sanctioned event on or after June 1. “I recommend drivers who have not already done so purchase a new license immediately,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “That will ensure they receive the full benefits of IMCA membership, including their claim card and eligibility to make any claim.” Licenses can be purchased by calling the IMCA home office at 319 472-2201.

Cornell dominates in IMCA Atomicwraps.com Empire State Series win

DUNDEE, N.Y. (May 20) – James Cornell took the lead just before midway and cruised to the checkers in winning Friday’s Atomicwraps.com Empire State Series feature at Outlaw Speedway. The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified tour victory paid $500 and was the career fourth for Cornell, the 2014 series champion. The 25-lap feature event saw a caution fly on the initial start of the race but that was the only yellow of the night. Cornell was dominant late in the race, extending his lead to more than a straightaway in lapped traffic. Matt Cole, winner of the tour opener at Five Mile Point Speedway, charged to second late in the event in a great battle with Eddie Sites and Brad Sites who finished third and fourth, respectively. Jackson tops Raceway Park Sport Compacts

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, Iowa (May 22) – Tacky track conditions led to a fast night of action Sunday night at Raceway Park. The first of five IMCA divisions hit the track when the KISS 107 FM Sport Compact division headed out. Only one caution slowed the race at six laps to go with Luke Jackson holding onto the lead he took at the drop of the green flag. In the final dash to the checkered flag, it was Jackson taking the win followed by point leader Ramsey Meyer. The Car Quest IMCA Hobby Stocks ran clean for the first six laps of the feature until the first yellow of the evening brought the field together with pole sitter Mike Hanson leading Andy Hoffman, Craig Clift, Ron Jensen, and Dave Riley. Thornton stays unbeaten at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 22) – Ricky Thornton Jr. raced up another Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win Sunday at Stuart Speedway. Jake Murray held court early with Scott Simatovich and Scott Bash not far behind. After spinning in his heat and missing the invert, Thornton needed all of six laps to make it to fourth place. He was held up there until lap 12 when he got by Simatovich for third. One lap later he took second from Bash and set his sights on Murray. A little less than half a straightaway separated the two, and in three laps that lead evaporated as Thornton powered his way to the front. Van Straten, Lamberies win Seymour openers

SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 22) – The 2016 season kicked off Sunday night at Seymour Raceway Park with the first IMCA wins going to Travis Van Straten and Lucas Lamberies. Eric Arneson sat on the pole for the 30-lap Coors Light IMCA Stock Car headliner and led the first four laps before defending national champion Van Straten slipped by. A couple laps later, Kyle Frederick moved into the runner-up spot and set his sights on the leader. After the mid-point, Van Straten held a length or two lead with Frederick attacking from the outside line. As lapped cars entered the picture, the pair had to work traffic as well as watch each other. The final 10 laps were a dog fight with the pair side-by-side and holding their preferred line much of that time. Ron Little Memorial set for May 29 at Stuart Speedway

STUART, Iowa – Stuart Speedway hosts its 16th annual Ron Little Memorial on Sunday, May 29, with a $2,000 to win Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying feature for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds at the top of the card. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts also run on the holiday weekend program. All applicable points will be awarded in the sanctioned divisions. There is no entry fee. Pit passes are $20 or $25 for drivers. Limoges leads Modified finish at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 21) – Tyler Limoges took charge following an early restart and never looked back in winning Saturday’s MN93 IMCA Modified main event at Arlington Raceway. Clint Hatlestad started ninth and finished as the runner-up. Third was Trent Loverude. The B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature ran caution-free, first with Ryan Grochow in the lead and then Matt Speckman from the second circuit to the checkers. Hackett wins by bumper at 141

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (May 21) – Tyler Hackett only led one lap in Saturday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at 141 Speedway. It just happened to be the most important one as Hackett beat Russ Reinwald by mere inches at the line to pick up his first win of the season. Reinwald started up front and was hooked up down low while Hackett took the initial green from 12th. Reinwald blew away the field and left the battle for second as a couple cautions would not halt the leader in continuing to pull away. Hackett ran the extreme top of the race track to get to the front, going four-wide and then three-wide to get into the top five. Austin Moyer is making the most of his new racing opportunity as he has taken over the steering wheel of Kenny Boyse’s 1M Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modified.
