Fast trip to Iowa helps put Ward in victory lane at Michigan’s I-96

LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (May 12) – A fast trip to Iowa earlier in the week helped put A.J. Ward in victory lane Friday back in his home state of Michigan. After a wreck left his car totaled, the defending Dirt Works Eastern Region champion went on line to find a new IMCA Modified ride. Adam Larson’s 2015 BMS caught his eye, the deal went down Tuesday and Ward picked the up the car on Wednesday. After a long day and a half in the shop, Ward was off to I-96 Speedway, where he got the best of Gary VanderMark in a back-and-forth battle for the $1,500 checkers Friday night. “We had half an hour to scale the car. We loaded up at 7 p.m. and missed hot laps, but we won the heat by a straightaway. Canyon ready to roll for kids’ bike giveaway night

By Rowdy Briggs PEORIA, Ariz. – After a small break in action, Canyon Speedway Park fires back up on Saturday, May 20 with the Kids’ Bike Giveaway Night. IMCA Modifieds will be returning to the speedway along with the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Chaz Baca Jr. has dominated the IMCA Modified class at Canyon in 2017. In the six point races, Baca has picked up four wins and finished second in the other two feature events. Guy Norton and John Parmeley claimed the other feature wins this season. George Fronsman has owned the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car season as he leads the way in the point standings. IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods return to LaSalle for May 18 Spring Shootout

LaSALLE, Ill. – IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods return to LaSalle Speedway for the Thursday, May 18 Spring Shootout presented by Hoker Trucking. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying feature for Modifieds pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $125 to start. Northern SportMods run for $600 to win and $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be given in both divisions. Side Biter Chassis North Central Region points will also be awarded to Modifieds. There is no entry fee for either IMCA division. Pit passes are $40. Spectator admission is $35 for adults and free for kids 11 and under. Sprint Series of Oklahoma makes first visit to Elk City Speedway on Saturday

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products will venture into uncharted territory this coming Saturday night as it makes the first of two appearances of the season at Elk City Speedway in Elk City. The western Oklahoma track will be the sixth different venue for the second-year IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series that has also seen different winners in the last six races held dating back to last season. Touring regulars expected to compete include Joe Wood Jr., Chad Koch and Andy Shouse, all drivers who have reached victory lane thus far this season. Wolla dominates IMCA Modifieds at Dacotah

MANDAN, N.D. (May 5) – Jason Wolla was dominant in winning Friday’s season-opening feature for IMCA Modifieds at Dacotah Speedway. Pole sitter Jason Wolla and defending track champion Marlyn Seidler battled for the lead early before Wolla pulled away as Jeremy Keller passed Travis Hagen for third and reeled in Seidler for second. Not even lapped traffic could slow down Wolla as he quickly negotiated his way through the slower cars. Wolla led all 25 laps to win ahead of Keller and Seidler. Hagen held off Spencer Wilson for fourth. Jason Berg was the Mach-1 Sport Compact winner.

Anderson aces Heartland Park Hobbies

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 7) – Heartland Park Topeka saw its first repeat winner of the season on Sunday night and the feat was accomplished by the winningest driver in the IMCA Hobby Stock division. Shannon Anderson is a six-time national champion and is closing in on 300 career wins in the class. He has made the long haul from Des Moines to Topeka for both races this season. He is quickly becoming a fan favorite and he is making it worth his while to attend each and every Sunday night. Anderson started off eighth in the main event and it took just a few laps to get up alongside leader Alex Boyden. By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 7) – Joel Callahan took to the top side of the track in winning Sunday’s 25-lap Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature at Dubuque Speedway. Callahan held off a strong finishing Jeremiah Hurst. Luke Goedert crossed under the checkers in third ahead of Joe Zrostlik. Austin Moyer drove his no. 1M Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modified to an impressive win in the 20-lap feature. Moyer took the comfortable win ahead of Mark Schulte and Matt Gansen. Troy Bauer scored the 15-lap GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMod feature win. Bauer overcame some early season misfortunes on Sunday night with the victory. Ryan Duhme ran second ahead of Mark Maas. A very swift racing program was held on a near perfect race track. The final checkered flag of the night flew right at 8:30. p.m.
