30th Harris Clash marks milestone with $10,000 IMCA Modified top prize

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – Thirty years ago, Bob Harris didn’t think the IMCA Harris Clash would ever get this big. As late as a couple weeks ago, the promoter of IMCA’s longest-running one-day special never thought it would pay this big, either. More than 110 IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods are already pre-registered for the 30th annual Clash Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. Harris had the pleasure of making the announcement late last week that the Modifieds would be racing for $10,000 to win. Wehrs Machine and Racing Products, along with Aero Race Wheels, AFCO, Close Racing, Performance Bodies and Strange Oval, all chipped to double what had been the winner’s original share of the purse. Reserved tickets on sale now for Sept. 10, 11 Super Nationals programs

BOONE, Iowa – The hottest ticket in town is for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10 and 11 reserved main grandstand seating at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Those tickets are $75 each and will be sold based on the seating chart that accompanies this story: Reserved ticket order forms should be mailed to Super Nationals, c/o Boone Speedway, 31473 Ute Avenue in Waukee, Iowa, 50263. Third annual Scorezit Cornhole Tournament open for registration

BOONE, Iowa – Cornhole competitors will have two chances to win championships, and a lot of money, during the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Two tournaments will be held during the upcoming Super Nationals, with 64 two-person teams vying for shares of a $2,560 purse on Sunday, Sept. 5 and 48 two-person teams battling it out for shares of $1,920 on Friday, Sept. 10. Entry fee for each is $40 and both double elimination tournaments have a 100 percent payback. Payout for the top six teams on Sunday are $972 for first, $716 for second, $486 for third, $256 for fourth, $78 for fifth and $52 for sixth. $250 Sunoco bonus for Late Model winners in Iowa this weekend

VINTON, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the winner of a pair of main events for IMCA Sunoco Late Models this weekend. The next two installments of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be paid to the July 30 Late Model winner at Marshalltown Speedway and the July 31 Late Model winner at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned tracks in 2021. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the racing season. Winners so far this year have been Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway, Andy Eckrich at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Ron Klein at Dubuque Speedway, and most recently in Nebraska to Kyle Prauner at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Chase Osborne at Boone County Raceway in Albion, and to Brock Carlson at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk. Five familiar faces find victory lane at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (July 25) – With the weekly points battles entering the final month of the season, drivers who’d already experienced success this season at Benton County Speedway made return trips to the winner’s circle Sunday night at The Bullring. Although it had been nearly two months since his most recent win on the quarter-mile, KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modified driver Troy Cordes showed why he’s the point leader in the 20-lapper for that division. From a third row start, Cordes worked the top side into contention and past early race leader Jesse Belez prior to the midway point. (July 25) – Rookie Zack Bealer found a way around Bloomsburg Fair Raceway that nobody else could match and scored his first win in a full-sized sprint car in Sunday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature co-sanctioned by the Pennsylvania Sprint Series and the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series. The former micro-sprint driver, running regularly with MASS, already had amassed two top-five finishes and four top-10’s in just six starts, including a seventh at Bridgeport Speedway in his first RaceSaver start, the season-opening co-sanctioned event for both groups. He announced early Sunday he might be ready to do even better at Bloomsburg, coming from ninth starting position to finish fourth in his heat. CORTEZ, Colo. (July 16) – After a month away from the track putting final touches on a new race car, Jeramy Hughes parked that 2020 Terminator ride in victory lane at Fairgrounds Speedway. The July 16 victory was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car first in 2-1/2 years for the Farmington, N.M., driver.
