Vis scores win as 105 teams enter Maquoketa Speedway

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 11, 2024) – Mother Nature provided a beautiful night for racing as Maquoketa Speedway hosted Tub O’ Towels Night at the races on Saturday. One hundred and five race teams took part in night number two of the 2024 racing season at the quarter-mile speedway.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars provided another exciting feature event and a first-time visitor to the Maquoketa Speedway victory lane. Dustin Vis hit his marks lap after lap and was able to hold off a very pesky Tanner Allen for the feature win. “I knew Tanner would race me clean and he did for the entire race, I felt him applying pressure and it was a fun race and really good for this old dog to finally get a win here,” said Vis. Allen finished second ahead of a fast-closing Gage Neal.  Jeff Larson captured another win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. Larson threaded the needle on the initial green flag and got to the front quickly from his sixth position start.  Larson then [Read More]

Regular racing season begins at Off Road Speedway

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews  NORFOLK, Neb. (May 11, 2024) – The 2024 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season, and with it the chase for individual points championships, began Saturday night at Off Road Speedway.  Among the feature winners in the sanctioned classes competing on a weekly basis were Anthony Roth in the IMCA Sunoco Late Models, Cameron Wilkinson in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Nic Kimmel in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and James Roebuck in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Roth, a Columbus racer, started on the outside of row two in the Late Model feature and remained among the top five during the first half of the race while multi-time defending national champion Cory Dumpert held the lead. With 11 laps left in the 25-lap race, a caution created an opportunity for Roth to get to the front. Dumpert drifted high in turn two before diving back to the inside, attempting to occupy the space between Roth and Chase Osborne, but as the cars sped down the backstretch Roth had the lead. IMCA Stock Car win shocks ex-street stocker Domagala

By Becca Pelkey MANDAN, N.D. (May 10, 2024) – A driver with admittedly low expectations for his rookie IMCA Sunoco Stock Car season was a feature winner in his first start in the new division. Hunter Domagala won the first weekly feature for the Stock Cars at Dacotah Speedway, taking advantage of a late-race caution and miscues by the two cars running ahead of him following the ensuing restart. “We had very little expectations. I’m kind of shocked we won,” said Domagala, the WISSOTA Street Stock champion the last four years that class ran at Mandan. “There’s a whole new learning curve with this class and I told my crew we were going to try to learn something new every night. Our end of the year goal was to win once, with all the competition, a whole new car (a 2022 Medieval by DeVilbiss) and a whole new set of rules.” Nineteen cars were entered Friday and Domagala started seventh and finished fourth in his heat. After a complete restart in the main event, pole [Read More]

Seibold rings up career first IMCA Stock Car win

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (May 9, 2024) – His phone started ringing right after Brian Seibold’s Thursday night IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win at Park Jefferson Speedway. It hasn’t stopped. The victory was Seibold’s first in nearly 120 career starts in The Class Too Tough Too Tame dating to 2019. Mike Nichols, IMCA’s all-time wins leader, Texas hotshoe Shelby Williams and Todd Gereau completed the top four behind him. “It was pretty amazing, to say the least. The top five or six guys there were fast, really fast,” said Seibold, “and when they showed up and I saw them pulling into the pits I thought to myself that this was going to be a rough night.” He added fuel but made no setup changes after going backwards in his heat, accurately figuring what his car and the track would do in the main event. Seibold drew the outside front row start, passed Corey Frye early and led the last 18 of 20 circuits, keeping Nichols & Co. at bay in a green, white, checkered finish. “He never [Read More]

Bricen James stormed the castle with a brilliant last-lap move in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event. The Albany racer reeled in Grey Ferrando in the last few laps and masterly timed an overtake move to get by him at the drop of the checkers. Ferrando had a speedy piece and stormed towards the front on the first lap. Ferrando was relatively quick but did have to negotiate some slower traffic, which allowed James to give chase. Ferrando was a respectable second, with Lebanon driver Carter Patterson third. The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event was [Read More]
