By Dave Panske OSHKOSH, Wis. (June 20) – Dan Roedl ran away from everybody in winning his Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modified first feature Friday at Oshkosh SpeedZone. Roedl took the lead and sped off to hide from the rest of the field with Jerry Muenster, Shawn Frelich, Jeremy Christians, Marcus Yarie and Mike Wedelstadt behind. Frelich was also able to open an advantage as the battle for third took center stage. By halfway, Roedl was a quarter lap ahead with Frelich still holding a slight margin over third and lapped traffic coming into play as well. With five laps remaining, Yarie worked into third and chased down Frelich, taking second on lap 17. Gustin grabs Saturday Showcase SportMod checkers at Independence

By Ryan Clark INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 21) – Plain and simple, Jenae Gustin has Independence Motor Speedway figured out. The Marshalltown driver raced to her second straight victory and her fourth win in the last five weeks in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division Saturday night. To top off the win, Gustin took home extra cash as the SportMods were featured in the Saturday Showcase, a monthly spotlight with increased prize money for a select division. Outside front row starter Lucas Lundry held the early command while Gustin made her way through traffic from a fifth row starting spot. Gustin raced the low groove into contention as she settled into second after just four laps. A short time later Gustin reeled in Lundry, who was also running the low side of the speedway. Bahrs is quickest in Quad City’s fair special

By Anthony Sandoval EAST MOLINE, Ill. (June 18) – Jason Bahrs knew he had the car to win at Quad City Speedway’s Open Wheel Onslaught on Wednesday night. He just had to wait for the right time to use it.

Bahrs started fourth in the Rock Island County Fair special for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and squeezed his way into second behind Milo Veloz Jr. by lap two and bided his time as the two gradually caught up with the back of the pack.

On the ninth circuit, Veloz became trapped behind a lapped car, allowing Bahrs to scoot by on the outside. Bahrs led the final 21 laps en route to his career first fair race win and a spot on the ballot for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.

”He has the capability to win a race even if he doesn’t have the best race car,” Bahrs said of Veloz. “He’s a challenge anytime we’re at the race track.”

I was seeing where he was going to run and trying to figure [Read More]

Terry Simon Memorial is Saturday at Thunderhill Raceway

By Edward Anschutz STURGEON BAY, Wis. – Thunderhill Raceway is set to honor Terry Simon this Saturday, June 21. Simon was a huge supporter of local dirt track racing. He is missed by many and we’re racing in his memory with the third annual Terry Simon Memorial. With his 50th Thunderhill win achieved last week, Todd Dart padded his point lead in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds to seven over two-time defending champ James Tebon. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars had a shake up as point leader Shawn Havel suffered a DNF, letting Charlie Kroll close to within one point. Two-time defending champ Dave Bouche sits two markers back. Thunderhill Raceway website designer Chris Budzban has raced his way into the point lead of the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Budzban leads Ryan LeMieux by just one point [Read More]
