Dacotah Speedway releases 2017 schedule 

MANDAN, N.D. – Dacotah Speedway will celebrate its 28th season of racing starting Friday, May 5. The racing season is anticipated to be bigger and better as officials and volunteers have been working hard during the off-season to find ways to enhance the show in the best interest of the fans. Labeled the “Fastest Friday Night in Bismarck-Mandan,” races will start Friday nights at 7 p.m. with plans to wave the checkered flag around 10 p.m. “We know our fans work hard during the week and their time is valuable. So during the off-season, a small group of volunteers met regularly to find ways to speed up the show. Atomic track champion will be first crowned in Ohio by IMCA RaceSaver

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – IMCA will crown its first-ever RaceSaver Sprint Car track champion as well as a series champion in Ohio this season. Atomic Speedway hosted the first of nine events on April 9; points races there April 22, May 20, June 24, July 22 and Aug. 5, 25 and 26, and Sept. 23 also figure toward determining that first champion. The June 24 event is during Ohio Sprint Speedweek and will be broadcast on the internet. The Aug. 26 Open Wheel Championship feature pays $600 to win. Eight Ohio Thunder Sprint Series dates are now on the schedule – at least one more will be added, at a location to be announced – at Atomic, Moler Raceway Park, Southern Ohio Speedway and Hilltop Speedway. IMCA Modified winner at Outlaw’s Spring Nationals banks $1,200

DUNDEE, N.Y. – Outlaw Speedway’s Spring Nationals sports a $1,200 IMCA Modified main event and a couple opportunities for drivers to pick up some extra cash on opening night. The Friday, April 21 headliner is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region, Allstar Performance State and track points will be awarded. Top 12 qualifiers from heat races during the April 20 Thursday Night Thunder program will be entered in a $150 to win dash for cash. The “B” feature winner also earns $150. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. on Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. both nights. Willamette Speedway ready for April 15 season opener

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – After a wild and crazy winter, racing is ready to begin a brand-new campaign on Saturday, April 15 at Willamette Speedway for the annual Cabin Fever Season Opener. Despite having all scheduled practices rained out the 1/3-mile clay oval will host the Super Late Model, IMCA Modified, Super Sport, Sportsman, Street Stock and Hornet divisions in round one of the new year. With the new season expect to see the return of some familiar faces as well as some new drivers in new divisions. Having all six staple classes on the card expect to see a very good car count for the first leg of 2017. Opening night and Easter Eggs at Dodge City this Saturday

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – A big night awaits at Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday, April 15 as the 3/8-mile clay oval kicks off with the opening round of championship chase action. It will be a great night for the kids eight and under with an Easter Egg hunt to celebrate the weekend and it will be a great night of entertainment for kids and adults alike with the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks all battling it out in the opening leg of the chase for the championship. Saturday’s racing action gets under way at 7:30 p.m. with tickets priced at $15 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30. The April 15 season opener marks the first of two April events at DCRP with Lewis Automotive Night featuring all five championship chase divisions to follow on Saturday, April 29.

IMCA Hobby Stocks, Northern SportMods new at North Dakota’s Thunder Mountain Speedway

BOTTINEAU, N.D. – IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers will chase points on eight Thursday nights this season at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Bottineau. “We’re getting some interest from drivers in both divisions looking to race another night for national and state points,” said promoter Jason Laducer. “We been WISSOTA sanctioned and in keeping in line with other tracks in the area decided to go with IMCA.” Race nights on the 2017 schedule at Thunder Mountain are May 4 and 18, June 8 and 22, July 20 and 27, and Aug. 3 and 17. “These divisions are good transitions for younger drivers to what we consider entry level divisions,” Laducer said. “Once the Hobby Stock and SportMod divisions are established, our eventual goal is to have special events for IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.” The all-volunteer Thunder Mountain Speedway Association is already getting the ¼-mile dirt oval ready for opening night and Laducer said “a few unique local sponsorships” are in place for the upcoming season. Montezuma County readies for IMCA Stock Car Rumble In The Rockies

CORTEZ, Colo. – Big paydays for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are on the line both nights of Montezuma County Fairgrounds Speedway’s season-opening Rumble In The Rockies special. The Friday, April 21 feature pays $750 to win while a top prize of $1,000 is on the line on Saturday, April 22. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region, Allstar Performance State and track points will be given both nights. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 7 p.m. with racing at dusk. Pit passes are $30 and pill draw is $20. That means we’re well into the countdown toward opening night of dirt track racing action just more than two weeks away at Dodge City Raceway Park. Four Hall Of Fame inductees set for Luxemburg Speedway Aug. 18

LUXEMBURG, Wis. – A trio of former Luxemburg Speedway promoters and a veteran driver still giving the youngsters a run for their money weekly will be inducted into Luxemburg Speedway’s Hall of Fame on Friday, Aug. 18. Tri Star Promotions members Kelly and Debbie Hafeman and Ralph Aschenbrenner along with Green Bay’s Jerry Muenster will be ushered into the track’s Hall of Fame. Tri Star Promotions promoted the weekly racing at Luxemburg Speedway for 13 seasons from 1989 through 2001. During their tenure the track boasted some of the highest weekly IMCA car counts nationwide. Kelly Hafeman himself is a former IMCA Modified champion. Muenster was the Luxemburg Speedway track champion in 1968. Despite being two full generations older than most of his on-track foes, the soon-to-be 76-year-old Muenster, the last holdover driver still competing from the track’s coupe days, still competes weekly at Luxemburg in an IMCA Modified. Montezuma County looks forward to solid car counts with return to IMCA

CORTEZ, Colo. – Kevin Faddis saw bigger grandstand numbers when he focused on promoting events at Montezuma County Fairgrounds Speedway last season. With the return of IMCA sanctioning, he’s confident of much better car count numbers in 2017. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA SportMods return to the 3/8-mile oval at Cortez this season with half a dozen Friday-Saturday doubleheaders on the initial schedule. All three divisions have a lengthy history at Montezuma County. The Modifieds and Stocks were last sanctioned in 2015, the SportMods in 2014. “Last year, we went USRA after Aztec Speedway (an hour and a half to the southwest in New Mexico) sanctioned with them and it killed our Modified class,” Faddis said. “Guys didn’t want to run the high-dollar stuff.
