By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. Schneiders finished second, followed by Chris Abelson. The Casey’s General Store IMCA Stock Car feature again went to Chris Mills, his second win in only four starts. Second went to new point leader Bo Lundquist, followed by Casey Jones. Karl Brewer had the field covered in the Skyline Casino IMCA Northern SportMods. The MOPAR IMCA Hobby Stock feature had a controversial ending when race-long leader Gabe Barclay was hit in turn four by second place runner Aaron Shearn, flattening Barclay’s tire. Suchocki scores Stock Car hardware

By Edward Anschutz STURGEON BAY, Wis. (July 12) – Jamie Suchocki outlasted Jeremy Anschutz to score his first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win of the season Sunday at Thunderhill Raceway. Rookie Kevin Luedtke led from the drop of the green in the Stock Car headliner until Jeremy Anschutz maneuvered by. Anschutz then pulled away using the high line. A three-wide battle for third got physical as Billy LeMieux, Dave Bouche and Dylan Heilmann raced for the same real estate, resulting in a caution and a flat tire for Heilmann on lap four. On the restart, Anschutz went right back to his groove but this time he had company as Suchocki hugged the tires down low, pulling even with the leader. The duo raced door-to-door until the midway point with Suchocki winning that battle. LeMieux made a late-race charge to the back bumper of Suchocki but it was too little too late as Suchocki took home the trophy. LeMieux had to settle for second. Other feature winners were Greg Gretz in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA [Read More]

Frye takes fifth straight at Thunder Hill

By Larry Lowrey Jr. MAYETTA, Kan. (July 11) – Tyler Frye opened up the season racing at Thunder Hill Speedway with no big intention on racing here on a weekly basis. But after five races it’s safe to say Frye is calling Thunder Hill Speedway his home track for 2015 and with good reason as he picked up his 5th straight Bad Boyz Bail Bonds IMCA Northern SportMod feature win Saturday night Jarret Beach took the lead early. Lap after lap, Beach held back the competition but Frye was motoring his way from the 12th starting spot. As each lap clicked off, Frye moved closer to the front and soon enough he was at the door. Seeing the opportunity, Frye threw his car in a little harder and deeper than the leader. His run took him to the front and he cruised to the easy win. Eleventh starting Steven Bowers Jr. made his third visit to victory lane this season following the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modified main event. Jim Powell Jr. made amends for last [Read More]

Nelson, Nichols go back to back at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 12) – Colton Nelson and Mike Nichols lit up the track on a night where the lights literally went out at Stuart Speedway. A power outage before the features started created some drama for the night. Brett Vanderheiden and Colton Nelson were on the front row for the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. Nelson took the lead at the start with Arie Schouten in tow for the first two laps. Clint Luellen made it to second on lap three, but Nelson was already out to a sizeable lead. That lead was erased on lap 12 as a caution came out, and the field lined up for a three-lap dash to the finish. Luellen made a move to the inside as the green flag flew, but Nelson was up to the task and got back into the lead with two to go. Nelson went on to take the win, his second in two weeks. Luellen finished second with Brandon Williams third. Curtis Miller was the Mach-1 Sport Compact winner and [Read More]

(July 11) – Kenny Baumann was best in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Billings Motorsports Park, outrunning Zach Olson and Arizona hotshoe Sean Stewart. Olson looked low, then slid up and nobody could get close again until after the caution came out. Stewart took the lead following the ensuing restart. Baumann was no rookie, staying patient and storming right back to regain the lead for good.

DeYoung is tops at Tri-City

AUBURN, Mich. (July 10) – Myron DeYoung checked in at the pit shack and then checked out on the rest of the Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified field Friday at Tri-City Motor Speedway. Frank Evans III paced the field to green flag and led the first half of the race. Point leader DeYoung found some room on the bottom of the track and took the lead on lap 10. The man chasing DeYoung in the point standing, A.J. Ward, made his way through the pack and tried making a move but had his hands full with Todd Matheson. When it was all said and done, nobody could find away pass DeYoung and he took the no. 7D to victory lane at Auburn for the third time this season. Finishing behind him were Ward in second, Matheson in third, Brenten DeYoung in fourth and Rusty Zeigler, who was involved in an early crash, in fifth.

Smith in a groove at I-90

By Steve Zwemke HARTFORD, S.D. (July 11) – Colin Smith of Sheldon, Iowa is in his first year of racing IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars but it’s taken him very little time to get comfortable behind the wheel. Smith came up through go-karts before getting involved in micro sprint racing in Iowa. The opportunity to move up another rung came when veteran racer Bill Boles sold his car to the Smiths. Boles has been there all the way to provide advice and encouragement and Smith won his first IMCA RaceSaver feature in just his third start at I-90 Speedway. He has been the points leader for much of the season and, on Saturday, won his second feature in a row and his third overall after leading all 20 laps – just another example of how Smith is finding his groove in the new class.
