Taylor brings broom to Batesville and sweeps Mid-America Modified Championship features

BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 20-22) – Jeff Taylor’s North Dakota car is pretty fast in Arkansas, too. Taylor swept the three Mid-America Modified Championship features at Batesville Motor Speedway, earning $1,500 for each of his Thursday, Friday and Saturday IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature wins. “I’ve never won three nights in a row. I’ve won twice before but this is the first time I’ve ever done that,” said Taylor, new to the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “I had a really good race car all three nights and a lot of help getting it that way. Summit returns to national decal program for IMCA Modifieds, gives awards in eight divisions

TALLMADGE, Ohio (March 22) – Summit Racing Equipment returns to the national decal program for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds this season, its fifth as a marketing partner with the sanctioning body. Drivers in the division are required to display two Summit decals on their race car and send a picture of their car proving decal placement to the IMCA home office by Aug. 1 to be eligible for regional point fund shares. The Tallmadge, Ohio, high performance parts retailer gives $100 gift cards to drivers in eight sanctioned divisions. EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (March 22) – Every driver starting on the pole in a Deery Brothers Summer Series feature this season will be a guaranteed award winner. Opening night honors at Beatrice belong to Grabouski

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 21) – A familiar face was back in victory lane following the headline event on opening night of Spring Nationals at Beatrice Speedway. Jordan Grabouski earned $2,000 for the Friday night IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified checkers. The victory was his career fifth at Spring Nationals and IMCA 96th. “I found the middle to the top of the track, kept the car straight and kept my momentum up,” said Grabouski,” who had started sixth and passed David Murray Jr. for the lead on the eighth of 30 laps. “This is a new car and I was fortunate to have a really fast ride right out of the box. Frontrunners were mixed up with lapped traffic before a caution with nine to go. Taylor is best in Mid-America Modified Championship opener at Batesville

BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 20) – There was no shortage of out-of-state talent on the track but opening night honors at Batesville Motor Speedway’s Mid-America Modified Championship belonged to a driver from fairly close to home. Jeff Taylor led the last four laps in topping the Thursday feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. The $1,500 victory put him on the ballot for this September’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. He’d started third in the 25-lapper, fell back to fifth and then had to pass Jacob Murray, Spencer Wilson and Jared Siefert before setting his sights on Ken Schrader. Schrader was making his first IMCA start of the season. The front two were running with lapped cars when they got together in an incident that saw Taylor emerge with the lead. Willamette Speedway hosts April 5 car show

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – Want to see your favorite race cars displayed right before your very eyes? How about seeing all these drivers on the race track shaking down their mounts? How about all of this all in one day? That’s right, you will see both a car show and a test and tune play date all in one afternoon/evening at Willamette Speedway on Saturday, April 5. The car show will start at noon and last until around 3 p.m. with cars being displayed in the gravel area across from the pit sign-in building. Teams will then be allowed to take their car back into the pit area and get their machines ready for the test and tune session. This session is expected to last from 4 p.m. until dusk. Folks wanting to watch the practice from the main grandstands get in for free while pit passes are $15 and car and driver fees are just $30. IMCA Modifieds return to Prescott Valley Raceway

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (March 20) – During his own racing career, Bugs Norbury appreciated Prescott Valley Raceway as a track that rewarded talent and not horsepower. He’s confident IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified drivers who return to the 1/3-mile clay oval, located at the Yavapai County Fairgrounds beginning with opening night on April 5 will share that sentiment. A full season of Saturday events are scheduled at Prescott Valley through Sept. 27. “This is more of a driver’s track. MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (March 20) – The manufacturer of the official scales for IMCA reaches another sponsorship milestone in 2014. Intercomp has renewed a contingency award program rewarding Deery Brothers Summer Series Late Model and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers in its 20th season as a marketing partner with the sanctioning body. The Minneapolis, Minn., company will give $100 product certificates to designated place finishers at all events in the Deery Series and to top 10 drivers in final point standings for both Arnold Motor Supply Northern and Southern Stock Car regions.
