Repeat winners at Algona Raceway

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 7) – Each of the winners at the Algona Raceway on Saturday had previously won a feature at the track in 2014. In the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature, polesitter Rob Hughes took the early lead and the race came to sudden halt as point leader Mike Jergens rolled his car going into turn number one but walked away from the incident. Off the restart on lap number six, Jeremy Mills went up on the high side and wrestled the lead away from Hughes. Once out in clean air, the Garner driver cruised to his second victory of the year with Hughes taking second. Eric Dailey was third with Austin Wolf placing fourth and Dustin Smith was fifth. David Wickman grabbed the early lead with a wild six-IMCA Sunoco Stock Car battle behind him battling for the first six laps. Ken Schrader returns to RPM, Murray is Modified winner

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (June 7) – NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader returned to RPM Speedway Saturday night, June 7 to compete in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified division. Twenty-four cars started the 20-lap S & W Supply main event with outside polesitter Tim Watts jumping out to an early lead, trailed by Jesse Richter, Corey Lagroon, Brian Calhoon and Kevin Gray. Lagroon took over the top spot on lap three and held on to that position through lap 12. Then David Murray Jr. got under Lagroon in turns three and four on lap 13 and assumed command. The man on the move, however, was Kyle Rohleder. Rohleder reeled in Murray and was about to make a pass when the final caution waved on lap 18. Cole, Bryant repeat at Hancock County

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (June 6) – Blake Cole in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Ryan Bryant in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts Friday at Hancock County Speedway. Cole was the best for a second straight week in the always-competitive Stock Car class after starting on the outside of row two and holding off a serious challenge from the hard-charging David Smith. Bryant topped the Sport Compacts for a fourth straight week. The runner-up spot went to Megan Lappegard with Jacob Kofoot earning the third spot; Devin Jones was fourth and Taylor Earles finished fifth. Ned Kalis was third, Calvin Lange took fourth and Craig Berhow placed fifth. Jesse Hoeft used his front row outside starting position to full advantage in grabbing his first career IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature win, holding off a hard-charging Jeremy Mills, who started 11th. Durbin nearly pulls off the racing hat trick

By Brad Hines EAST MOLINE, Ill. (June 8) – It had been an up and down start to the 2014 season for Quad City Speedway regular Brandon Durbin. He made the switch to the IMCA Xtreme Motoro Sports Modified divisionduring the off-season and there had been a bit of a learning curve and some bad luck to start the season. Two weeks ago at Davenport Speedway Durbin finally got it figured out and took home the checkered flag. Then on Sunday night, Durbin nearly pulled off a racing hat trick. In the Toppert Services IMCA Modified make-up feature, Durbin held off a fierce challenge from Matt Werner, who was all over Durbin for majority of the 20-lap feature, to win the first race of the evening. Circle Racing Wheels rewards top rookies in IMCA Modified, Stock, SportMod divisions

FRESNO, Calif. – The most successful rookie drivers in four IMCA divisions earn post-season awards again in 2014 from Circle Racing Wheels. The Fresno, Calif., manufacturer gives a set of four wheels to national IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod rookies of the year. The highest finishing rookies in state point standings in the same four divisions, excluding the national rookies of the year, each receive $100 product certificates. Drivers must fill out and send a rookie of the year application form to IMCA by Aug. 1 to be eligible. AFCO starts third decade of partnership with IMCA

BOONVILLE, Ind. – AFCO begins its third decade as a marketing partner with IMCA by giving contingency awards to drivers in five divisions. Top three eligible drivers in each of the five IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified regions earn product certificates worth $250, $150 and $50, respectively, while the top three in both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regions receive $200, $100 and $50 certificates. The Boonville, Ind., manufacturer also gives certificates good for $125, $75 and $50 based on national point standings for the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and for Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. Carload Special for round four at Sunset Speedway Park

Also for this event is Carload Special, which gets a carload, truckload, RV-load, etc. of fans into the races for only $25. Dan Lewis Photography will have checkered flags for purchase to put those signatures on. The autograph session will take place at intermission. The night is sponsored by Jim Olson Motors of Sturgeon Bay. A brand new GM 602 crate engine will go to one lucky racer in the IMCA Northern SportMod or IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division at the 2014 banquet courtesy of Jim Olson Motors.
