Great Basin dates next for EQ Wild West Tour

ELY, Nev. (July 23) – Great Basin Raceway is the next destination for the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour. Traveling IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds race for $1,000 to win in their Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 features at Ely. Both events are qualifiers for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded each night. Pit gates will be open all day; the grandstand opens and hot laps start at 5 p.m. Racing begins at 6:30 p.m. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, $8 for kids 12 and under and free for youngsters five and under. Pit passes are $25. Four tour events have been held at Ely and Aaron Spangler owns a win from each of the previous doubleheaders. Willamette gears up for weekend shows

LEBANON, Ore. – This Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, Willamette Speedway hosts some of the best racing around. Both evenings will feature IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds as they wrap up the Wild West Modified Speedweek and the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series. The IMCA Modified race on Saturday will be the best paying to win all week as the main event winner earns a cool $2,000. Other contingencies are in the works also and will be announced soon. In Wirth Wireless Modified action at Willamette in 2014, it’s been a great year of competition. Matt Mitchell has the point lead but is tied for the most victories on the campaign with Collen Winebarger and Jeremy Shank with two each. Big Wheels races Friday at Luxemburg

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. – An action-packed race night is in store for drivers and fans alike this Friday at Luxemburg Speedway as some of those fans become drivers at intermission. The annual Kids’ Big Wheel races take place at intermission on July 25 with the first 50 kids getting medals from Gnome Games. Jared Siefert was the last IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified driver in victory lane in a classic finish. He beat Jason Czarapata but Czarapata remains the leader of the pack with a 15 point advantage over James Tebon. Brandon Czarapata continued in his winning ways in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division. With his win two weeks ago, he tied Rod Snellenberger atop the standings. Two weeks ago, Scott Boulanger earned his first career Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature win. Abelson ends incredible week at Raceway Park

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 20) – Chris Abelson capped an incredible week with his victory in the Jebro Inc. IMCA Modified division Sunday at Raceway Park. After picking up IMCA wins Wednesday at Buena Vista Raceway, Thursday in the Harris Clash at Knoxville Raceway and Friday at Crawford County Speedway, Abelson closed out the week by taking Sunday’s feature win over Sean Barrigan and Matt Bonine. Abelson had moved into the lead of the national points race following his win at Knoxville. In the Casey’s General Stores IMCA Stock Car division, Ryan Harris made it two wins in a row, topping Jim Hall and Todd Gereau for the feature victory. R.J. Merchant shot to the front early and held on for victory in the Skyline Casino IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Second was Rusty Montange, followed by Darin Roepke. Osborn, Clough, Werkmeister, Bond are Dawson County winners

(July 20) – Lightning up the night Sunday with stellar efforts at Dawson County Raceway were IMCA hotshoes Colton Osborn, Brandon Clough, Casey Werkmeister and Kyle Bond. Grabbing the lead at halfway, Osborn powered his way to the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory. Osborn snared the lead on the 11th circuit and never looked back after starting in the fifth row. Breaking through in the Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Modifieds with his first feature win of 2014 at Dawson County was Clough. He has been a mainstay inside the top five and flirted with winning but it was his night this time around as he scored the win from his front row starting position. Telecky rules Hobby Stocks at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 19) – Josh Telecky led every lap in winning his first IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature of the season Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Telecky was taking full advantage of his pole position start but on the second lap, Kevin LaTour rolled his car on the front stretch. Following the restart, Telecky resumed control and held off eventual runner-up Dakota Robinson the remaining laps. A rough and tumble 95.7 IMCA Sprint car feature saw Brett Allen make contact with Aaron Wisch, resulting in a violent flip by both cars. Both drivers were OK but out of the race. When the race resumed, Dustin Sargent led the first nine laps but Bruce Allen was on his tail. The veteran had moved through the pack and got by Sargent to take the lead and win his first feature of the year. Curt Lund started 10th and won the MN 93 IMCA Modified main event. All hail Hill at Electric City

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (July 18) – A back and forth battle between Gary Hill and Mark Wermling ended after a caution late in Friday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature at Electric City Speedway. The two had won heat races earlier in the evening and every indication was that their race to the main event checkers was going to be a nailbiter. The yellow waved on lap 18 and as the field came to the restart, Wermling broke and he came to a stop on the front stretch. After the ensuing restart, Hill shot ahead and there was no looking back.

Stanford wins round 3 of Wild West Modified Series

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 22) – Alex Stanford became the third different winner in as many nights when the Wild West Modified Speedweek resumed Tuesday at Cottage Grove Speedway. The $1,000 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory was his career third and put the California clipper on the ballot for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Collen Winebarger was very fast on the initial start but every time he built a decent lead it was erased by caution. By lap 12, Winebarger was under considerable pressure from Stanford. Stanford made his pass for the lead on lap 12 but when Winebarger tried to get it back, the two got together. Winebarger sustained damage and came to a stop. From there on out, Stanford had no issues in front. Cautions came out when he caught up with lapped cars, eliminating that traffic. First-time winners dominate at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 19) – Tad Reutzel and Isaac Hill earned their first feature wins of the season at Algona Raceway on Saturday evening. Chad Palmer and Dalton Kron also grabbed their first feature win of the year at the track with Matt Hoeft earning his second win of the season. Dustin Smith took the early IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified lead and had a straightaway advantage before Reutzel reeled him in. Hill was the winner in the caution-slowed IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main after drawing a front row start. Palmer came from the inside of the fourth row to take the double checkered flags in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. The yellow flag was also frequently displayed in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature but Hoeft overcame all of those delays to earn his second local feature win of the season. Kron steered his No. 99 rig into the winner’s circle from the outside of row two in the Mach-1 Sport Compact go.

Herrick, Werkmeister, Bond, Blowers land Lincoln County wins

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (July 19) – Scoring Saturday night IMCA victories at Lincoln County Raceway were Bryan Herrick, Kyle Werkmeister, Kyle Bond and Charlie Blowers. Herrick started in the fifth row, gained the lead just after halfway and drove away with the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod checkers. Nearly going without a caution, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars put on a whale of show with lots of passing and side-by-side racing that finished with Werkmeister leading the final eight laps. After snaring the lead on the third circuit, Bond drove away from the rest of the field and cruised to the win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Bond started in the fifth row and it only took him three laps to get to the point. Blowers won the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature after grabbing the lead on the fifth lap and finishing strong.
