XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour shares July 24 stage at Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour joins the World of Outlaws Late Models Series on the Thursday, July 24 card at Independence Motor Speedway. The 30-lap feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds pays $1,000 to win, a minimum of $150 to start and is a qualifying event for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Five different drivers, point leader Mike Van Genderen of Newton, Tim Ward of Gilbert, Ariz., Andrew Schroeder of Keswick, Jimmy Gustin of Marshalltown and most recently Chris Abelson of Sioux City have prevailed in the five Dirt Tour events held so far this season. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Belleville Motorsports North Central Region, Allstar Performance State and special series points will be awarded at Independence. Gustin cashes in at Marshalltown

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 18) – Richie Gustin got $1,000 richer Friday night at Marshalltown Speedway. Gustin topped Friday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event, becoming one of the first candidates on the ballot for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Eric Elliott and then Adam Larson led early. Luke Wanninger and Gustin chased down when the frontunners experienced lap traffic. Gustin used lapped cars to grabb the lead on lap 17 and led the final eight laps. Larson, Wanninger, Ronn Lauritzen and Hunter Marriott rounded out the top five. Michael Jaennette was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner and Jared Van Deest ruled the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Eric Stanton topped the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event.

Kay extends Davenport winning streak

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 18) – Justin Kay continued his reign over the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model division at Davenport Speedway. Friday, Kay captured his sixth win of the point season and fifth in the last six races. Kay started the 25-lap feature in 10th and was up to third by the end of lap four. Chuck Hanna started on the outside pole and used the high side to get out to an early lead. Kay used the bottom groove to run Hanna down and take the lead for good on lap 13. Joe Zrostlik passed Hanna in lapped traffic to finish second. Hanna held on for third with Todd Malmstrom and Nate Beuseling completing the top five. Summer Nationals start fair entertainment at Lincoln County

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Opening night of the fair brings three IMCA divisions to Lincoln County Raceway for Summer Nationals at North Platte, Neb., on Wednesday, July 23. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both race for $700 to win and a minimum of $90 to start. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $400 to win and a minimum of $90 to take the initial green. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. There is no registration fee. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $ for children ages 6-12 and free for $5 and under. Peery paces Wild West Modified Speedweek opener

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. (July 19) – A $1,000 check accompanied opening night honors for Travis Peery, winner of Saturday’s Wild West Modified Speedweek event at Sunset Speedway Park. Thirty IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified entries were on hand from Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and North Dakota for the first round of the fourth annual tour. Leading the entire distance of the 40-lap Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying feature was Peery, coming all the way from North Dakota, but originally from California. Collen Winebarger put his machine in the runner-up position while “B” winner Alex Stanford was third. Braedon Hand was fourth and defending Speedweek champion Jesse Williamson was fifth. Charlie Ware is Dixieland Sprint Series winner

(July 18) – Charlie Ware made the most of a fast ride and track that suited him by taking his first feature win in his own car in Friday’s Virginia Sprint Series feature at Dixieland Speedway. Chris Ware and Charlie Ware paced the IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car field to the green with Charlie out first bring Glenn Worrell along with him. Tony Harris was third, right on Worrell, as Charlie Ware stayed on the cushion staying smooth lap after lap. Halfway came and a car did a 360 degree spin, then drove up the track causing some bumps and blocking the track, which bunched up the field for a dash to the checkers. Charlie Ware took off with Worrell and Tony Harris right behind and Troy Severin and Jerald Harris filling the top five. July fendered honors go to Hoffman’s Hobby Stock

By Ryan Clark SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Racing one night a week has allowed IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock driver Andy Hoffman to focus on a track championship. Currently in the points hunt at Raceway Park in Jefferson, S.D., Hoffman has already come out on top in fan voting this season. He was named the Sybesma Graphics IMCA Facebook Fan Favorite winner for the fendered divisions for the month of July and receives a mini-hood. Hoffman, who was leading the standings at Raceway Park entering the July 6 program, finished the night chasing new point leader Mike Hansen. “I have planned on winning the track championship this year,” Hoffman stated. “The DNF Sunday night put us back in second in points, but we’re still right there.” Hoffman has competed 10 nights this season, all at Raceway Park, and has earned one win and a number of top-five finishes. Day Motor Sports returns as sponsor for IMCA specials in all eight divisions

TYLER, Texas – A company known for the quality of its products as well as its Texas hospitality is returning as a marketing partner with IMCA. Day Motor Sports will give $50 gift cards to a top five finisher at as many as 80 special events in 2014 and again in 2015. Those gift cards will be given at specials for all eight divisions sanctioned by IMCA. “As we look at it, this program is one way we can spread the wealth.
