Sweet Manufacturing new to national IMCA Modified decal program

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The manufacturer of the “Official steering box of IMCA” is new this season to the national decal program for IMCA Modifieds. Sweet Manufacturing of Kalamazoo, Mich., will award steering boxes to champions in each of the five regions for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Second through fifth place finishers in each region receive $50 gift certificates. Both the national Late Model champion and IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s Late Model champions receive a Sweet-made steering rack. Drivers in both the Modified and Late Model divisions must display two Sweet Manufacturing decals on their race car to be eligible for those awards, which will be presented at the national banquet or mailed beginning the following week from the IMCA home office. Cold forecast cancels Kennedale’s Spring Kick-Off

KENNEDALE, Texas (Feb. 24) – A winter-like forecast has resulted in cancellation of this weekend’s scheduled Spring Kick-Off at Kennedale Speedway Park. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods were on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28 and March 1 programs. IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars were on the Saturday card. Snow showers and a high of just 37 degrees are in the forecast for Friday, when an open practice had been scheduled. Overcast conditions and more precipitation are anticipated Saturday and Sunday. First local, Allstar Performance State, regional and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national points at KSP will now be given Saturday, March 7.

IMCA, RaceSaver announce $6,500 Sprint Car national point fund

VINTON, Iowa – IMCA and RaceSaver have announced a $6,500 point fund, to be paid to top 10 drivers in national Sprint Car point standings this season. The national champion earns $1,000, with $900 for second, $800 for third, $700 for fourth and $600 for fifth. Sixth through 10th place drivers each earn $500. “National point fund shares are in addition to local track and series point funds, as well as a generous number of contingency awards,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “We continue to get inquiries about sanctioning. Axle Exchange program continues to grow with new IMCA Late Model awards

DES MOINES, Iowa – The number of IMCA track champions receiving product certificates from Axle Exchange nears the 400 mark this season, with the addition of Late Models to the post-season awards program. Abbey, Hoefelman ace Abilene Modified features

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 20-21) – An Abilene Speedway special regular and a first-timer aced IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main events at the season-opening Ice Breaker. Dean Abbey bested the Friday feature field while Jared Hoefelman topped Saturday’s main event. Both races paid $700 to win. Previously the winner of three Ice Breaker features and a Southern Challenge main event in the Southern SportMod division, Abbey drew the outside front row start on Friday and led all 20 laps. After multiple cautions, he was catching up to the back of the pack with the checkers in sight. “My car was really good. Louisiana Bayou Sprinters race under IMCA RaceSaver banner

AMITE, La. – A Sprint Car series that’s been part of RaceSaver for the past four years will also run under the IMCA Eagle Motorsports banner beginning this season. The Louisiana Bayou Sprinters, co-directed by Herman and Wendy Carrier, will travel to six tracks in Louisiana, one in Arkansas, one in Mississippi and another in Texas over the course of 20 events. Opening events are March 20 and 21 at Baton Rouge Raceway. EngineQuest takes new role with IMCA as title sponsor for both Stock Car regions

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – EngineQuest takes on a new role with IMCA beginning this season as title sponsor for the two Stock Car regions. IMCA Modifieds join Saturday shows at Gator Motorplex; Texas venue is home track for Southern United Sprints

WILLIS, Texas – Newly-sanctioned Gator Motorplex will be both a weekly home to IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and the home track for IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars following the Southern United Sprint Series beginning this season. Opening night at the ¼-mile dirt oval is March 7. Veteran promoter Randy Waller anticipates the Modifieds will duplicate the success the Sprint Series has enjoyed during its three years with RaceSaver. “Modifieds in this area have struggled.
