Moser Engineering awards go to IMCA Modified, Stock, Hobby, SportMod drivers

PORTLAND, Ind. – More than $10,000 in Moser Engineering product certificates will be awarded again this season to IMCA drivers. Top IMCA Modified cash at Kegger goes to James

POCOLA, Okla. (March 20) – Jeff James couldn’t recall too many details of his one previous visit to Tri-State Speedway, as a spectator some time in the late 1990s. He’s got $2,000 to help him remember his second trip to the Pocola, Okla., speedplant. James led all 25 laps of the Sunday Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event at the Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger, building a lead of as much as a straightaway before pulling away again after a caution bunched the field back up with just two circuits to go. “It was a pretty good way to start off the season,” understated James, who’d earned the pole by winning his Saturday qualifier, “especially considering I’d never raced there before.” The win came in just his third start in a new Skyrocket. Simmons Promotions sets 73 race dates for 2016

FARLEY, Iowa – Keith Simmons of SPI has put together his most ambitious Stock Car racing schedule in his 17 years of operating dirt tracks in Eastern Iowa. Simmons owns and operates the Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa in addition to holding contracts to operate racing events at the West Liberty Raceway on the Muscatine County Fairgrounds in West Liberty, Iowa and the Dubuque Speedway located on the Dubuque County Fairgrounds, located on the west edge of Dubuque, Iowa. Ken Schrader joins IMCA Modified fields for Frostbuster specials at Oskaloosa, Vinton, Marshalltown and Boone

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Ken Schrader returns to Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified fields for all four nights of Frostbuster Week. Southern Iowa Speedway at Oskaloosa hosts opening night on Wednesday, March 30. Frostbusters follow on Thursday, March 31 at Benton County Speedway in Vinton, Friday, April 1 at Marshalltown Speedway and Saturday, April 2 at Boone Speedway. Top prize each night for the Modifieds is $1,000 with a berth on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot at stake as well. Arlington Raceway celebrates 35 years of slingin’ dirt

MORTON, Minn. (March 19) – More than 300 people attended Saturday’s 2015 Arlington Raceway awards banquet, held at the Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in Morton. Track champions honored included: Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts, Nate Coopman of Mankato; Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock, Cory Probst of Worthington; Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod, Matthew Looft of Swea City, Iowa; B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car, Dan Mackenthun of Hamburg; 95.7 the Rock Station IMCA Sprint Car, Michael Stien of Ceylon; and the New Country MN 93 IMCA Modified, Clint Hatlestad of Glencoe. Ashley figures out Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods

By Ben Deatherage JASPER, Ore. – When it comes to the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods in 2015, Gene Ashley seemed to have the IMCA division all figured out. The veteran racer out of Jasper collected his first career championship in the class at Cottage Grove Speedway. “The biggest thing is, I couldn’t have done this without Eric (his youngest son),” commented Ashley. “He put this car together for me and when I blew my motor in the middle of the year he gave me his so I could finish it out.” Ashley’s driving career started at the young age of 16 in 1970, running demolition derbies at the now-defunct Eugene Speedway, before eventually venturing to CGS in the mid-1970s. Arkansas Spring Nationals special starts season at Batesville

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Batesville Motor Speedway’s season-opening Arkansas Spring Nationals sports $1,000 to win features for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start the 24-car fields and both features are qualifying events for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. There is no entry fee.
