Arlington Raceway celebrates 35 years of slingin’ dirt

MORTON, Minn. (March 19) – More than 300 people attended Saturday’s 2015 Arlington Raceway awards banquet, held at the Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in Morton. Track champions honored included: Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts, Nate Coopman of Mankato; Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock, Cory Probst of Worthington; Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod, Matthew Looft of Swea City, Iowa; B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car, Dan Mackenthun of Hamburg; 95.7 the Rock Station IMCA Sprint Car, Michael Stien of Ceylon; and the New Country MN 93 IMCA Modified, Clint Hatlestad of Glencoe. The top 10 drivers in each division received an award. Perfect Attendance Awards were presented to 44 drivers that competed in each event. Ashley figures out Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods

By Ben Deatherage JASPER, Ore. – When it comes to the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods in 2015, Gene Ashley seemed to have the IMCA division all figured out. The veteran racer out of Jasper collected his first career championship in the class at Cottage Grove Speedway. “The biggest thing is, I couldn’t have done this without Eric (his youngest son),” commented Ashley. “He put this car together for me and when I blew my motor in the middle of the year he gave me his so I could finish it out.” Ashley’s driving career started at the young age of 16 in 1970, running demolition derbies at the now-defunct Eugene Speedway, before eventually venturing to CGS in the mid-1970s. New sponsor Dynamic Drivelines looking to grow with rookies in six IMCA divisions

DES MOINES, Iowa – Rookie drivers in six IMCA divisions are in the running for product awards from a rookie IMCA marketing partner this season. Dynamic Drivelines of Des Moines gives steel drive shafts to national Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod rookies of the year. Top first-year competitors in both the national IMCA Late Model standings and Deery Brothers Summer Series earn carbon fiber drive shafts. “When I talked with IMCA, we agreed it would be neat to work with the rookies. HAYS, Kan. – RPM Speedway opens the 2016 season with the Friday and Saturday, March 25 and 26 Sunflower Classic special. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win each night. Both features are qualifying events for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Arkansas Spring Nationals special starts season at Batesville

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Batesville Motor Speedway’s season-opening Arkansas Spring Nationals sports $1,000 to win features for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start the 24-car fields and both features are qualifying events for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. There is no entry fee. Casey’s General Store signs three-year pact to support IMCA Super Nationals, Deery Series

ANKENY, Iowa – Casey’s General Store has signed a new three-year agreement to back both the biggest event in all of dirt track racing and the premier tour for Late Models in the Midwest. The Official Convenience Store of IMCA, Casey’s returns as presenting sponsor for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals, to be held Sept. 5-10 at Boone Speedway, and as title sponsor for the redraw at all Deery Brothers Summer Series main events. The new pact runs through the 2018 race season. Based in Ankeny, Iowa, Casey’s now has more than 1,900 stores in 14 states and became an IMCA marketing partner in 2013. Atchison County’s Tag Team Challenge now April 17

ATCHISON, Kan. – The Tag Team Challenge special, newly-sanctioned Atchison County Raceway’s first event for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, will be held Sunday, April 17. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win in their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier while IMCA Stock Cars have a top check of $750. Extra money – $1,000 for the Modifieds and $500 for the Stock Cars – will be paid to the two-car teams with top point totals determined from qualifying and main event finishes. ENNIS, Texas (March 17) – Winning the opening night Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at 85 Speedway will pay a hefty $3,000. The Saturday, March 19 show is the first under the direction of new promoter Scotty Brown and all applicable points, including local track points, will be awarded. The Modified main event is a 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. The runner-up earns $1,500 with $750 paid for third. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start the feature.
