Hurst tops Fan Appreciation Night feature at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (July 8) – Near perfect weather conditions greeted a huge crowd on Driver and Fan Appreciation night Friday at the Farley Speedway. The Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature saw Jeremiah Hurst advance from his 6th position start to take over the top spot from Jeff Tharp on lap 10 and sail on to record his third win of the season at Farley. Tyler Droste was closing on Hurst late in the race but ran out of laps and settled for second. Joel Callahan started ninth and advanced to take third at the finish line. Jerry Luloff broke a two-year winless streak at the Farley Speedway by capturing the 20-lap GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Modified feature. Behning handles Davenport IMCA Late Model foes

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 8) – Brunson Behning captured his second feature win of the season at Davenport Speedway on Friday evening. Behning started the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model feature in the sixth position. By the end of lap one, he was three-wide and in the lead. Brunson led all 25 laps despite a couple of caution flags which slowed the field. Rob Toland steadily worked his way up to a second place finish. Andy Nezworski limped home to third, followed by Chuck Hanna. Brian Harris, in a return visit to Davenport, rounded out the top five. A bizarre finish in the Eriksen’s IMCA Modified main gave Matt Werner his second feature win this year at Davenport. Werner took the lead from Dave Hammond on lap eight by using the high side of the track. On lap 17, Joe Beal took the point on the very bottom. Bowers, Keuhn collect Atchison checkers

(July 8) – Friday Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified action at Atchison County Raceway saw Steven Bowers Jr. use heat race win momentum to capture the main event victory as well. Rodney Schweizer and Nicholas Carpenter battled fast and furious the entire feature with Schweizer finishing second and Carpenter third. When the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car smoke had cleared, Greg Keuhn was standing tall with his third local feature win of the season. Jim Powell Jr. again came from deep in the field to challenge Keuhn but settled for second on the night. Brad Whitney had a solid feature race, finishing third.

Heavy hitters at Lee County can’t catch Brandies

DONNELLSON, Iowa (July 7) – After he got over the hump, David Brandies went home with $1,000. Brandies won Thursday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Shootout at Lee County Speedway. The victory was his career first at Donnellson and came in front of a packed grandstand. “Last year I went here about half a dozen times, finished second a bunch of times but was never able to get over the hump,” said Brandies, who was also runner-up in his one previous Donnellson start this season. “It couldn’t have happened on a better night. Clay County canceled for tonight

SPENCER, Iowa (July 8) – Due to wet track conditions, tonight’s (Friday) races at the Clay County Fair Speedway have been canceled. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing action will continue next Friday with the Arnold Motor Supply Crank It Up Clash. Both Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $1,000 and four Hoosier tires. If not already vote eligible, the Modified winner will be added to the ballot for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.

Mid-Summer Classic is Saturday at Canyon

By Lonnie Wheatley PEORIA, Ariz. – Summer is most definitely in full effect in Arizona’s valley. So it’s quite fitting that Canyon Speedway Park near Phoenix hosts its annual Mid-Summer Classic on Saturday night, July 9. Following an open practice tonight from 7-10 p.m., Saturday’s Mid-Summer Classic atop the 1/3-mile clay oval will feature a full slate of that includes Arizona Differential IMCA Modifieds. Saturday tickets are $16 with a $3 discount for military, seniors and students. Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children six and under admitted free. VIP passes are available for $20.

Recovery fund started for PA Sprint Car driver

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A recovery fund has been established by the Beer Hill Gang for the family of IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car driver Jake Waters, who was injured last weekend during the feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. URSS Rebels prepare for Nebraska doubleheader weekend

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will make the trek to the Cornhusker State this weekend as the third race of the Myers Racing Engines National Points Championship kicks off the weekend Saturday at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte and a Sunday trip to the lightning fast Dawson County Speedway in Lexington for a regional show. Look for many Sprint Series of Nebraska drivers to bolster the fields for both races as it is an opportunity to pick up valuable URSS/IMCA RaceSaver points as well. With the recent rescheduling of the Valentine Speedway show to Aug. 20 in Glen Rock, Wyo., look for some of the Colorado Region drivers to run for national and regional points as well. So far out of the 13 races run, 10 different drivers have made their way to victory lane. Only two drivers have multiple wins, Luke Cranston with three and Zach Blurton with two. Modifieds chase $2,000 top check at Luxemburg tonight

LUXEMBURG, Wis. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds chase a $2,000 top check and a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot tonight (Friday, July 8) at Luxemburg Speedway. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, BMS North Central Region and Allstar Performance State points, but not local track points will be awarded at the event, sponsored by Pagel’s Ponderosa and Ron’s Cheese. There is a $30 entry fee. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will vie for all applicable points. Pit gates open at 4:45 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:40 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for teens ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and under.
