IMCA Late Models chase $1,000 check June 16 at Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa – IMCA Late Models race for $1,000 to win when they join the weekly race program at Kossuth County Speedway on Thursday, June 16. The runner-up takes home $600 with $400 for third, $300 for fourth, $250 for fifth, $200 for sixth and a minimum of $175 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded to drivers looking to turn laps at the Algona oval before returning for the July 7 Deery Brothers Summer Series event. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. There is no entry fee and pit passes are $25. Spectator admission is $10 for adults and free for ages 14 and under. Late Model heats will be first on the track and the feature will be held early in the program so drivers can get on the road to home. More information is available by calling 515 341-3562.

Ebert wins first career SportMod feature

(May 28) – Sporting a big smile and a Clintonville Trucker football shirt, 16-year-old Jason Ebert posed in victory lane after scoring his first career Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature in only his second night of racing at Shawano Speedway. The feature saw Brianna Ambroziak and Brandon Nygaard battle for the lead at the drop of the green flag. The pair raced side-by-side for the first two laps of the race before Ambroziak began to pull away just a bit from the rest of the field. While Ambroziak led, Nygaard began to feel some heat from Ebert for second. Ebert cleared Nygaard on lap eight. On lap 10, Ambroziak lost the handle on the car in turn four and spun, bringing out the caution and handing the lead to Ebert. Osborn climbs ladder to top of Lincoln County podium

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (May 28) – Cashing in on the opportunities on the oval were many competi­tors that took to the track at Lincoln County Raceway on Saturday evening. Outrunning the storm with the fastest to earn a trip to the winners circle were Colton Osborn, Dillon Schultz, Casey Werkmeister, Shawn Slezak and Erik Nelson. Working his way through traffic and going to the top groove to snare the lead, Osborn drove to the point and earned the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory. Osborn worked the bottom groove for much of his run to second place before going up the ladder a rung on the 12th lap that took him into the lead. Wernette wins Tri-City Modified main

AUBURN, Mich. (May 27) – Chad Wernette posted Tri-City Motor Speedway win number one on the season in the Friday feature for Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modifieds. Rich Young started alongside Aaron Spearling on the front row for the money race. Young led the initial four laps before 40-year veteran Joe Fowler took the point. He led the next nine laps before Wernette pulled up to challenge. After working his way up from 11th starting, Wernette finally passed Fowler and cruised to his first victory of 2016 at TCMS. Fowler had to settle for second and was closely followed by Kody John­son, Ken Zeigler and Toby Steele.

Wolla goes green to checkered at Dacotah 

MANDAN, N.D. (May 27) – Jason Wolla was the green to checkered leader in Friday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at Dacotah Speedway. Donald Robinson and Brad Hartigan started on the front row of the main event however the third-starting Wolla grabbed the lead when the green flag waved. Wolla was strong on the bottom and quickly pulled away from the field. Mark Dahl passed Hartigan for third and started to catch the second-running Robinson. Dahl, us­ing the low line, took second from Robinson on lap nine. Despite Wolla’s large lead, Dahl kept pace. When Wolla started catching lapped traffic with 12 laps to go, Dahl started to close in. A caution with three laps left regrouped the field but Wolla was much too strong. He pulled away again on the restart and led all 25 laps to win the feature. Bell, Struck get repeat wins at CJ Speedway

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 27) – Adam Bell and Steven Struck were both repeat win­ners Friday at CJ Speedway. Shane Paris and Billy Faler led the Kauffman Electric IMCA Stock Car field to green. Paris took advantage of his starting spot to move out into the lead on lap one. A couple early cautions al­lowed Bell, who started sixth, and Kirk Kinsley, who started eighth, to quickly move toward the front and challenge Paris for the top spot. Bell slipped under Paris on lap four to grab the lead, leaving Paris to battle with Kinsley for the runner-up spot. Kinsley tried to get under Bell over the final few laps of the race but Bell was able to hold him off to capture his second win of the season at CJ. Kinsley was second and Paris third. Lawson leads the way in Virginia Sprint Series feature at Natural Bridge

By Jim Haines NATURAL BRIDGE, Va. (May 28) – Brian Lawson won for the first time this season when the Virginia Sprint Series made its second visit of 2016 to Natural Bridge Speedway. After recording his first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car tour heat win, J.D. Coats joined Bill Rice in pacing the Saturday evening field to the feature green. Rice took the early lead, riding his favorite high line. Daren Bolac was making ground up on Rice and on lap four he went to the front with Lawson close behind. Lawson got by Bolac for the top spot on lap nine and Jerald Harris got into the picture, running second at halfway. Meyer adds to Sport Compact lead in Park Jefferson standings 

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 29) – A quick evening of spectacular driving highlighted the Memorial Day weekend for IMCA race fans Sunday at Raceway Park. The first feature of the evening was in the KISS 107 IMCA Sport Compact division where point leader Ramsey Meyer took advantage of a mechanical glitch in the car of early leader Luke Jackson to move into the lead on the fifth lap. While Jake Newsom kept the pressure on to the checkers, Meyer held on for the win followed by Newsom and Tyler Thompson. The Car Quest Hobby Stock division ran its 14-lap feature clean from the drop of the green flag to the checkered. The early laps saw a fantastic side-by-side duel between Brody Spreng and Dave Riley, with Riley taking control of the lead coming out of the fourth turn on the ninth lap. Reeser captures PASS win at Williams Grove

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (May 27) – Tyler Reeser rebounded from early-season engine troubles and returned to victory lane at Williams Grove Speedway Friday night after holding off Colby Dice for the Pennsylvania Sprint Series win. Donnie Hendershot led the first lap before Reeser took over following a close race back to the line. Reeser had just seen Colby Dice drive into second when the red flag appeared on the fourth lap for a second-turn flip by Zach Newlin. Dice challenged Reeser briefly when action resumed but Reeser was up to the challenge, opening up a near straightaway advantage at points to pick up the win. Dice rode home second followed by Jaremi Hanson, Ken Duke and John Martin. John Barnett was the Wee Bee Audio and Video Hard Charger in the event, finishing eighth after starting 22nd in the feature. Hard charger Wauge pockets $1,500 for Haudenshild Tribute win

(May 28) – With a $1,500 top prize and a berth on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational on the line, Mark Wauge impressed with his charge to the front of the pack for the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory at Southern Oregon Speedway’s Roger Haudenshild Tribute Race. Wauge started in the last row in a 30-lapper that ran with just one caution flag and a complete restart. He took the lead from long tow Darrell Hughes II on lap 20.  Once in front, Wauge was not to be denied as he pulled away for the win. After a multi-car crash resulted in a complete restart, Brian Poppa shot into the lead on the open­ing lap. What proved to be the last caution of the contest flew on the next circuit.
