United Rebel Sprint Series has 14 dates in four states

OBERLIN, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will begin its 12th season of 305 Sprint Car Racing featuring events in the four states, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Colorado in 2017. The Myers Racing Engines National tour will feature fourteen stops in all four states and will bring racers together under the IMCA RaceSaver banner for the second season. The national points season kicks off April 1 with an appearance at Longdale, Okla., Speedway. The race features a $1,000 to win, minimum $250 to start purse. On May 13, the URSS Rebels will make the first of two national event stops at Colorado Motor Sports Park in Byers. The 3/8’s mile oval will feature drivers from the Kansas and Colorado regions duking it out in the $1,000 to win, $200 to start feature. The URSS Sprint Series will make its return to C. Familiar faces in victory lane at Canyon

By Tony Steele PEORIA, Ariz. (March 11) – Repeat winners were the story Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park. Chaz Baca Jr. took home the Speedway Motors Weekly Racing opener for the IMCA Modifieds, coming off a $3,000 payday at the Desert Classic. George Fronsman took home his fourth win in a row in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars while Joe Vlasity battled to become the first repeat winner in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Baca took the lead near the halfway point of the 25-lap Modified feature and held off Bryson Curry. Curry was fast all throughout the night as he came from the back of his heat race twice to finish third. Starting from the pole, Curry led the way through the first half of the race with Baca on his heels. In right place at right time, Russell tops Gordon Woolley Classic at HO’T

ELM MOTT, Texas (March 10) – Tyler Russell didn’t lead the most laps, just the most important one. Russell was in the right place at the right time when leader Paul White lost the handle in Friday’s opening night event for the Elite Non-Wing Sprint Car Series at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. Quick to capitalize on White’s white flag lap misfortune, Russell motored by to win HOT’s Gordon Woolley Classic feature for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars and $1,000. “It was nice to have a little luck,” said Russell, who battled back and forth with Marcus Thomas while chasing White much of the first 19 circuits. “He threw some real haymakers at me. Grabouski completes Spring Nationals IMCA Modified sweep

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 10) – After setting the new Spring Nationals feature win record on Thursday, Jordan Grabouski added to it Friday evening. Grabouski completed his sweep of IMCA Modified features, earning another $2,500 for his career ninth checkers at Beatrice Speedway’s traditional season-opening special. “I had a good car again. Everybody else was kind of running the middle while I ran the bottom,” said Grabouski, also a double winner at Spring Nationals in 2011 and 2015. “This was a great way for us to start the season. You always want to win both (features) but there are so many good drivers here that the odds are against it.” Grabouski started eighth, took the lower line to the front and passed fellow heavy hitter Dylan Smith for the lead before midway in the 30-lapper. Laney leads to IMCA Modified checkers at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 9) – Cody Laney hit the $750 IMCA Modified jackpot Thursday night, leading start to finish in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track special. Kyle Heckman started inside Laney on the front row and ended in second. The 20-lapper stayed green to midway and Laney held Heckman in check following another restart with two to go. The feature was represented by drivers from seven states and played out in front of a full house. Ethan Dotson, Scott Pounds and Logan Drake completed the top five finishers. Grabouski gets record eighth Spring Nationals win on opening night at Beatrice

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 9) – The eighth time was every bit as good as the first Thursday night for Jordan Grabouski. Grabouski won the opening night IMCA Modified feature at his hometown Beatrice Speedway’s Spring Nationals for a record eighth time, earning $2,500. Kyle Brown, 13th starting Hunter Marriott, Jacob Murray and hard charger Dylan Smith rounded out the top five. Smith, a Spring Nationals winner in 2013, had started 18th. Sidebiter Chassis has new building, title sponsorship role of IMCA’s North Central Region

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – A chassis builder nestled in the heart of the region is the new title sponsor for IMCA’s North Central Region for Modifieds. Sidebiter Chassis, owned by long-time driver Ryan Ruter, steps up to the new sponsorship role and provides part of the $6,000 point fund to be paid to top 10 drivers in the region that includes tracks in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Saskatchewan, South Dakota and Wisconsin. “This is something we’ve been interested in doing for a number of years. Montezuma County looks forward to solid car counts with return to IMCA

CORTEZ, Colo. – Kevin Faddis saw bigger grandstand numbers when he focused on promoting events at Montezuma County Fairgrounds Speedway last season. With the return of IMCA sanctioning, he’s confident of much better car count numbers in 2017. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA SportMods return to the 3/8-mile oval at Cortez this season with half a dozen Friday-Saturday doubleheaders on the initial schedule. All three divisions have a lengthy history at Montezuma County. The Modifieds and Stocks were last sanctioned in 2015, the SportMods in 2014. “Last year, we went USRA after Aztec Speedway (an hour and a half to the southwest in New Mexico) sanctioned with them and it killed our Modified class,” Faddis said. “Guys didn’t want to run the high-dollar stuff. IMCA Modifieds chase $1,250 checks at Batesville’s Arkansas Spring Nationals

BATESVILLE, Ark. – A pair of $1,250 to win features for IMCA Modifieds are on the card for the Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18 Arkansas Spring Nationals at Batesville Motor Speedway. Both Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying events pay $1,000 to the runner-up. Minimum start money is $150 and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Allstar Performance State and track points will be awarded. Pre-entry fee is $50 each night or $75 at the gate. The grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. each night.
