Kay collects 20th Deery Series win with Farley victory

FARLEY, Iowa (April 21) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models headlined Friday’s season opener at Farley Speedway under the new direction of Farley Speedway Promotions. Fans were greeted by a field of 36 touring Late Models at the facility, which has already undergone numerous improvements this spring with many more to come throughout the season. While the facility is undergoing a facelift, it was a familiar face lifting the trophy in victory lane as Justin Kay led all 35 laps to earn his career 20th series victory. Kay withstood pressure from Jesse Sobbing following a pair of cautions in the first half of the event and then held Cayden Carter at bay late to secure the $2,000 payday. $1,500 in cash bonuses paid for Deery Series Highway 20 Triple Crown

VINTON, Iowa (April 19) – Cash bonuses totaling $1,500 will be added to purses paid at this weekend’s Deery Brothers Summer Series tripleheader. The Highway 20 Triple Crown takes touring IMCA Late Models to Farley Speedway on Friday, April 21, to Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 22 and to Dubuque Speedway on Sunday, April 23. Each feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Drivers who compete at all three events are eligible for bonuses based on point standings for the weekend. Landrum Performance Springs gives contingencies in five IMCA divisions

MENTONE, Ind. – Drivers in five IMCA divisions earn Landrum Performance Springs contingency awards again this season. Landrum, of Mentone, Ind., gives a product certificate to purchase one spring and get a second free will be given to top three eligible drivers in each of the five IMCA Modified regions, both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock regions, and to top three eligible drivers in national Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod point standings. West Liberty Raceway hosts rescheduled Modified Extravaganza

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa – The racing program at the West Liberty Raceway fell victim to the severe weather that passed through the Muscatine County Fairgrounds Saturday night. The Modified Extravaganza has been rescheduled for this Saturday, April 22. The race program will be headlined by IMCA Modifieds battling it out on the half-mile dirt track gunning for the $1,200 first place prize money and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational berth. In addition to the IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Mach-1 Sport Compacts will all be racing for expanded purses. Saturday night’s program will get underway with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. followed by racing action at 7 p.m. The West Liberty Raceway regular season opener will be Saturday, April 29, which will feature all the above race divisions plus the high-powered IMCA Late Models.

Family, not feature wins or fame, become Gould’s biggest accomplishment in racing

CALERA, Okla. – Ronny Gould has gotten more than feature wins and fame from racing. He’s gotten a family. Now driving an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car in his home state of Oklahoma, Gould was promoting the former Lake Country Speedway a dozen years ago when he let a group of kids from a local church camp in to the races free one night. “Everything we do kind of goes back to racing,” says Gould. “I was promoting Ardmore when we let those kids in, they sent thank you’s and my wife Kelly said we could help some of them, so we became foster parents for the State of Oklahoma.” The Goulds have since fostered more than 70 children and adopted seven of their own, who now range in age from 22 to 3 … sons Scott, Charlie, Ryder, Shay, Olyn and Derek, and daughter Danica. “The best part has been watching them learn and grow. (April 15) – Bigger shares of the purse were at stake after Friday’s Ice Breaker Challenge program was lost to rain, so Jesse Sobbing and Adam Armstrong both took homer bigger checks on Saturday. Sobbing scored the $3,000 IMCA Modified victory, earning the lion’s share of the biggest purse paid in that division at Eagle Raceway, while Armstrong collected the $750 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod checkers. Tyler Drueke took home $1,000 for his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory and Dan Nelson notched the $500 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win. More than 140 teams made the tow to Eagle for the season lidlifter.
