DeFrance, Jenae Gustin take Marshalltown checkers
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 11) – Darrel DeFrance and Jenae Gustin kept it in the family with Friday night wins at Marshalltown Speedway Veteran Joe McBirnie, looked destined to go to victory lane after grabbing the lead on the opening lap and driving away from the IMCA Modified field. Fifth row starter Jenae Gustin had something to say about that, however, putting her ride to the top of the track and setting sail. Gustin gained ground each lap and by the halfway mark, had flown into the lead. It was Gustin who now pulled away from the pack, keeping the lead and scoring a resounding win. McBirnie held on to second place and third was Jake Strayer. Not to be outdone, Darrel DeFrance matched his niece Jenae’s win by scoring the victory in a close finish to the IMCA Late Model contest.
