Lower line leads Shouse to sprint win at Longdale

LONGDALE, Okla. (Aug. 26) – Andy Shouse found the bottom of the track was the place to be just past the midway point of Saturday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at Longdale Speedway.

As a result, the defending champion motored to the checkers in the Sprint Series of Oklahoma event co-sanctioned with the United Rebel Sprint Series.

Zach Blurton had begun putting slower cars down on lap nine and continued with a comfortable lead. The first caution of the feature fell on lap 14.

While pacing under caution, Shouse worked the bottom and found it to his liking. On the restart, he quickly disposed of Taylor Velasquez for the runner-up position.

Shouse kept working the low side around the big 3/8-mile oval and made his move to the front on lap 18, throttling away down the backstretch and quickly opening a half stretch lead over Blurton.

Shouse went on to claim the full-straightaway victory. Blurton held on for second while Jake Martens, 16th starting Gary Owens and Taylor Velsquez rounded out the top five.

The next event for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products will be Friday, Sept. 8 when Red Dirt Raceway hosts the second annual Pat Suchy Memorial. This event is guaranteed to be the largest purse in the second-year history for the SSO as it will pay $1,250 to win, plus $1,500 in lap money. Start money is $300.
