$1,500 is top IMCA Modified check Saturday at Perris

PERRIS, Calif. – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,500 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, July 21. The 30-lapper awards IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, California State and track points. As well as the increased purse, numerous contingencies have been added to the night: Corona-based Eibach Springs will award a $125 gift certificate to the driver who finishes one position out of the redraw spot in each heat race. RaceSaver Sprints run Wednesday at Jackson

JACKSON, Minn. – The Heartland Steel Racesaver Sprint Cars presented by Wyffels Hybrids will be added to the Jackson Motorplex program on Wednesday, July 18 with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the LMSS Touring Series. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will be racing for $600 to win, plus IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and state points, plus a new Keizer wheel. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. for the draw/redraw show.

Harris wires the Bridge for Virginia Sprint Series win

(July 14) – After numerous top five finishes this year, Tony Harris got the lead on lap one and wired the Virginia Sprint Series feature at Natural Bridge Speedway for his first win of the season. Bill Rice and Chris Ware paced the Saturday IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green but Harris quickly swept low and to the front. Mike Leraas worked on Rice for second as Harris cruised up front. Arneson treats himself to Shawano checkers

(July 14) – Lance Arneson secured his first IMCA Modified win of the year with a last-lap pass of Wyatt Block when Shawano Speedway celebrated Halloween at the Half Mile on Saturday night. Ageless Jerry Muenster led lap one before his son Eddie made an outside pass to take the top spot. Block raced past Jerry for second by lap five and set his sights squarely on Eddie. Block got underneath Eddie on lap eight to take the lead. Arneson was moving quickly toward the front and as Block took the white flag, Arneson went to the high line and found an advantage. The pair raced door-to-door through turns three and four. Arneson pulled ahead as they approached the checkered flag to score his first win of the year. IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner earns $5,000 at 141’s King of the Creek

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car king, or queen, at 141 Speedway’s July 19-21 King of the Creek special banks $5,000. Qualifying begins on Friday, July 20; last chance races and the main event are on Saturday, July 21. Entry fee for the Stocks is $100. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $500 to win both nights while Mach-1 Sport Compacts are on deck for a $250 to win show on Friday. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and Wisconsin State points will be awarded. An open practice is planned for Thursday evening, July 19. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Pit passes are $25 on Thursday and $30 Friday and Saturday; a three-day pit pass is $75. Sweet victory for Berghahn at Bumblebee Nationals

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 12) – Denny Berghahn Jr. made a long trip from Nebraska $1,000 better as he topped a 19-car field to win the second annual Bumblebee Nationals at Kossuth County Speedway on Thursday, night. National point leader Bubba Brown and Stephanie Coopman led the field to green for the 25-lap feature with Berghahn, who started on the outside of the second row, taking the lead immediately. From that point, all that slowed Berghahn in the drive for the best payday of his career were a quintet of cautins. Hard charger Jerry Coopman advanced nine spots to end in second with Jake Benischek, Stephanie Coopman and Jarad Gross rounding out the to five. Tad Reutzel and Bryce Sommerfield picked up their third local feature wins of the season in the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock divisions, respectively, with Derek Green taking the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature for the second straight week and Doug Cook topping the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for the first time.

Thornton wins Dakota Tour thriller at Dickinson, Zevenbergen cruises to another Stock Car win

By Mike Spieker DICKINSON, N.D. (July 11) – Winning streaks by both inclement weather and Hunter Marriott came to an end Wednesday night at Southwest Speedway. Ricky Thornton Jr. picked up the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic IMCA Modified Tour win at Dickinson, ending both the streak of two straight wins by two-time defending champion Marriott and then back-to-back rainouts. R.C. Whitwell and Shawn Strand made up the front row for the 30-lap main event. Whitwell grabbed the lead before Thornton got a run to go from fourth to second on lap two, getting by both Strand and Ethan Dotson. The top three distanced themselves from the rest of the field at the halfway point. With 14 to go, Whitwell found himself in lapped traffic and had to move away from the preferred bottom groove, which allowed Thornton to reel him in. IMCA Modifieds chase $1,000 checks in July 16, 17 debut at Brown County Speedway

ABERDEEN, S.D. – IMCA Modifieds make their Brown County Speedway debut next Monday and Tuesday, July 16 and 17, in $1,000 to win main events on the 1/3-mile clay oval. Both features are 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region, South Dakota State and track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps both days. Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Cars are also on the card Monday, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Tuesday. There is no entry fee for the Modifieds. Pit passes are $25 on Monday and $40 on Tuesday.
