Meyer, Shryock get wins, top checks at Kossuth County’s Salute to Veterans show

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 18) – On a night that Kossuth County Speedway in Algona saluted our country’s veterans, Nick Meyer and Kelly Shryock came home with big paydays as each driver paced $2,000 to win IMCA features. The winner at Algona and at Hancock County Speedway the previous weekend, Meyer raced to his third straight IMCA Modified victory while putting his name of the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. D.J. Shannon had taken advantage of his pole start in the Beck Seeds $2,000 to win event and led early. Meyer took over the top spot after midway and held on to win for the second straight week. Shryock had a solid run in his no. 3 rig to finish second with Shannon taking third as Todd Shute was fourth and Jeff Feaster was fifth. $1,000 to win Modified feature on July 25 card at US 30

COLUMBUS, Neb. – A top check for $1,000 and a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot are on the line July 25 at US 30 Speedway. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both race for $600 to win at the RE/MAX Realty-sponsored Thursday night show. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $450 to win, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Spark Plugs Nebraska State and track points will be awarded. Pit passes are $30 and there is no entry fee. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $6 for kids ages six to 12 and free for ages five and under. Dacotah Speedway hosts July 26, 27 Governor’s Cup

MANDAN, N.D. – IMCA Modifieds race for $800 to win, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $250 to win both nights of Dacotah Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27 Governor’s Cup. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, E3 Spark Plugs North Dakota State and track points will be awarded in both divisions. Modifieds also earn Side Biter Chassis North Central Region points. There is no entry fee and pit passes are $30. Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, with $1 off when advance tickets are purchased at any Red Carpet Car Wash location. Kids 12 and under get in free. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. both days. The grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars get top billing at Crist Memorial

OSBORN, Mo. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $1,262 to win US 36 Raceway’s Joe Crist Memorial Shootout. The third annual special is sponsored by the Crist family. Along with a minimum of $125 to start and $162 for the longest tow, the Friday, July 26 event pays $62 to each race winner, the driver who draws the number 62 pill and to the hard luck award recipient. There is no entry fee. IMCA Modifieds and IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cards are also on the card, with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Sparks Plugs State and track points to be awarded. Fast start puts Bard in Port Royal victory lane

(July 20) – Garrett Bard wasted no time in showing his ability in a full-sized Sprint Car, coming from ninth starting spot to second in his heat race and then winning Saturday’s 20-lap Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Port Royal Speedway. It was only his fourth time out in a full-sized Sprinter, his second in an IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car and his first at Port Royal. The winner’s 305 career has been so brief that his no. 95 sprinter still has its numbers applied with tape, but fans and fellow competitors certainly will remember them now. Bard had drawn the outside front row start but polesitter Devin Adams, who had picked up his first career win the last time PASS was at Port Royal, grabbed the early lead with last week’s Path Valley winner Drew Ritchey moving into second. Hurst reigns at Dubuque

Jeremiah Hurst has won many, but the season championship at his hometown Dubuque Speedway is always special. Hurst started eighth but made his run to the front quick, taking the point for good on lap five and won the Eichman’s Bar & Grill IMCA Late Model 25-lapper Sunday evening at Dubuque Speedway. “It’s always special to win here,” Hurst said. “We’ll just keep winning. The finale had to go to overdrive/overtime as runner-up Joel Callahan slammed the turn two wall and finally stopped on turn four as the white flag was ready to fly. Bound for Boone: Super Nationals experience is Sept. 2-7

BOONE, Iowa – Taking care of what some people might consider little things will make it a better week for all involved at the biggest event on the IMCA calendar. The IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s is primed for a Sept. 2-7 run at Boone Speedway. Two hundred and fifty drivers have already registered electronically, part of the process designed to streamline the 37th annual event. “Registration is very important. Purchasing an IMCA license if you have not done so is important. Deery Brothers Summer Series gets top billing at Fayette County Fair show

WEST UNION, Iowa – A blue ribbon-worthy show is guaranteed when the Deery Brothers Summer Series headlines the Wednesday, July 24 race program at Fayette County Speedway. The IMCA Late Model tour main event pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start.
