VINTON, Iowa – Sunday, May 31 will be an open practice session for all racers from 4-7 p.m. Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. at The Bullring located on the Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton.
The point racing season will open on June 7 with fans being allowed to attend the races. The racing action will get underway on June 7 with warmups slated to take to the track at 4:30 p.m. with racing to follow at 5 p.m.
VINTON, Iowa – After racing action was weathered out this past Sunday, the Bullring at Benton County Speedway will return for its second night of weekly points racing May 2. Weekly points battles will continue in the KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Albert Auto, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by Kwik Star and Mach-1 Sport Compacts presented by Auto Crafters. Pit gate opens at 4 p.m. and the grandstand at 4:30, with hot laps scheduled for 5:30 and racing to follow. VINTON, Iowa (May 28, 2023) – It took him a few laps to get to the lead, but once he did it was smooth sailing for Friesen Performance IMCA Modified driver Tim Ward. Ward worked past Justin O’Brien mid-way through the Beaty Excavating 25-lapper, then took the checkers by six seconds ahead of the field in Sunday’s Prelude to Monday’s IMCA Modified Anniversary Event. O’Brien led early while Drew Janssen pressured the leader running the low side of the fast quarter-mile oval. Meanwhile, Ward navigated the high side and pestered the lead pair before making what would be the winning pass. Janssen raced to a second place finish ahead of O’Brien and last year’s Prelude winner Joel Rust. VINTON, Iowa (May 22, 2022) – A margin of six hundredths of a second was all it took for Jeff Steenbergen to pocket $1,000 Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. The Johnson Creek, Wis., native made the 3.5 hour tow pay off on a night the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Vermedahl Logistics offered a $1,000 winner’s share. Starting on the front row alongside fellow Wisconsinite Luke Lemmens, Steenbergen was quick to move to the race lead when the green flag waved. He protected the bottom groove while Lemmens applied persistent pressure. Lemmens briefly assumed command when Steenbergen attempted to extend his lead by moving to a higher line. Those efforts were unsuccessful, however he was able to regain the point returning to the low side a short time later. As the lead pair battled, Dustin Vis, Eric Mahlik, Dylan Thornton and Kaden Reynolds gave chase.
