The sanctioned division officially joins the Saturday night race program at the north central Wisconsin speedplant in 2021, with opening night set for May 22. The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season runs through Aug. 28. “I have friends that race IMCA Stock Cars, I’ve watched them at other tracks and I’ve watched them at Super Nationals,” said promoter Andrew Bartelt. “The respect the drivers in the class have is something we want to incorporate here.”  “We have used rules very similar to IMCA’s the last two years and the cars performed very well at our facility,” he continued. “Beginning next year this will be a place where they can race for local track, state, regional and national points.”  Bartelt, a former pavement racer and track and series announcer, owns several local businesses and along with Marilyn Fanetti purchased 1/3-mile clay Tomahawk in July of 2015.  New pit, grandstand and parking lot lighting has been installed [Read More]

Five IMCA divisions making big news at Wagner Speedway in 2021

WAGNER, S.D. – The ownership and management of Wagner Speedway is proud to announce some big news for the racing community in our region and announce the 2021 race schedule. Following a season of hard work, planning and discussion, Wagner Speedway is thrilled to be sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) for the upcoming campaign. IMCA is America’s premier dirt track racing sanctioning body, home of the Speedway Motors Weekly Racing Series. Since exploding onto the racing scene in 1979, the Modifieds have become the calling card of IMCA. These open wheel wonders push the limits of power and excitement. The IMCA Modified was the savior of modern racing, and IMCA has received many awards for its visionary efforts. IMCA has incorporated that same philosophy in the growth of the seven other divisions it sanctions, five of which will be on display weekly at Wagner beginning May 7. Classes that will run for IMCA points in 2021 include IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and [Read More]

IMCA adding to membership benefits, doubles excess medical coverage to $100,000

VINTON, Iowa – With no increase in cost to drivers, IMCA membership benefits will include excess medical coverage doubled to $100,000 beginning in the 2021 race season. “It has always been extremely important for IMCA to maintain membership costs while increasing the benefits our licensed drivers and sanctioned race tracks receive,” emphasized IMCA President Brett Root. “While no one ever wants to have to need or have to use it, it’s very important that such coverage is available and in place.”  This excess medical policy that accompanies IMCA membership reimburses IMCA members racing in sanctioned events for covered excess medical expenses, including those incurred during travel to and from IMCA sanctioned events.  Excess means the accident medical benefit is payable after benefits under any other health plan have been considered first. Also, there is a $5,000 policy deductible, usually track insurance, that needs to be satisfied before any payments can be made. Coverage is subject to policy terms, conditions and exclusions.  The member’s policy purchased from Jones Birdsong includes $5,000 accidental death, dismemberment and paralysis coverage [Read More]

Owner and President of Competition and Racing Operation Jimmy May also becomes IMCA’s division director for the Mod Lites.  “This agreement is win-win,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “While Mod Lites run at many tracks we already sanction, it is a division that in almost every aspect we have nothing similar to now.
