Good lap, good line good for Brown, Green in IMCA Midwest Madness Tour at Clay County

SPENCER, Iowa (June 29) – A really good lap put Kyle Brown in victory lane while a really fast line did the trick for Derek Green on night two of the Karl Kustoms Midwest Madness Tour. Brown got the best of Cody Thompson in a green, white, checkered IMCA Modified finish Tuesday at Clay County Fair Speedway. Green put on a show of his own in racing to IMCA Sunoco Stock Car career win number 98. Both $1,000 feature wins carried September bonuses, putting Brown on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and making Green eligible for B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying. Finishline Racing Products certificates given at IMCA Modified, Stock Car special events

DENISON, Iowa – A new group of IMCA drivers earn Finishline Racing Products awards in 2021. The Denison, Iowa, high performance parts supplier and four-year sponsors gives $50 gift certificates to top five finishers at a dozen special events for IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Finishline also gives $50 gift certificates to Modified race of champions qualifiers at the IMCA upcoming Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Certificates will be mailed from the IMCA home office after special events results are received, and in September following Super Nationals. Finishline had previously given certificates to special series competitors. Drivers required to declare rookie status by July 1

VINTON, Iowa – Drivers in eight IMCA divisions eligible to do so must declare their rookie status by Thursday, July 1. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, eligible drivers who did not win national or regional rookie of the year awards in 2020 are eligible to compete for national and regional rookie honors. Drivers who did not indicate rookie status on their 2021 application can call the IMCA home office at 319 472-2201. IMCA names national Modified, Late Model, RaceSaver Sprint Car, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod, Southern SportMod and Sport Compact rookies of the year, and regional Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock rookies of the year. A national rookie of the year will not be named in the STARS Mod Lite division in its first year of IMCA sanctioning.

Six new winners find victory lane at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 24) – For the first five weeks at Kossuth County Speedway, a handful of drivers have dominated the six weekly divisions. That all changed as six different drivers found victory lane for the first time this summer at the track on Thursday, June 24. The main attraction of the night was the $1,000 to win Wyffels Hybrid sponsored Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod special as Gerald Curry and Alex Smith brought the 17-car field to the flag stand. Curry jumped out front early and kept his no. 32 rig out front with Austin Schrage lurking two to three car lengths behind but seemingly could get no closer. Every time Schrage inched a little tighter, Curry increased his lead the next lap and went onto to claim the first place prize money in the biggest win of his racing career. IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods, fireworks featured at Salina’s Topless Challenge this Friday

SALINA, Kan. – The roofs come off and IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for $500 to win at Salina Speedway’s 11th annual Topless Challenge this Friday, July 2. The Modified feature is a qualifying event for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Mach-1 Sport Compacts complete the holiday weekend kickoff card. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded. Entry fees are $20 for Modifieds and $10 for Northern SportMods and pit passes are $30. Bard is bullish in PASS win at Path Valley

By Frank Buhrman SPRING RUN, Pa. (June 26) – It’s not that Garrett Bard doesn’t race well at Path Valley Speedway. In his last seven starts there, he had finished second four times, third once and fourth once. But his only previous win in a full-sized sprint car had come in September of 2019, and since then he had won 14 Pennsylvania Sprint Series features, plus non-PASS victories, at other tracks. That picture got brighter Saturday night when Bard emerged from a furious three-way battle to win the 25-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at the quarter-mile Spring Run bullring. Bard was swapping the lead in traffic with hard-luck Kenny Heffner, with Jared Zionkowski looking for an opening, when Heffner dove to the inside on lap 23 and spun. Freed of traffic after the ensuing caution, Bard held off Zionkowski for the win, his second of the season. Becerra roars to East Moline Mix Memorial cash

The Carthage, Ill., ace went to the top groove and stayed there the entire 20 laps of the Mike Mix Memorial SportMod Shootout Sunday evening at East Moline Speedway. Becerra wheeled around Cody Calam and Adam Birck, then held off Jarett Franzen for the $1,000 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod win. “The track had some character and you have to (be able to) run the top like that,” Becerra said in the Winner’s Circle. “I’m not a bottom feeder so I had to make the top work.” Becerra waited out a couple cautions, but always pulled away from the field.
