Hagio, Burke score Friday Ocean Speedway IMCA victories

(April 1, 2022) – Ocean Speedway returned to racing on Friday for their third race on the campaign, with IMCA feature wins going to Cody Burke and Jonathan Hagio. At the release of the green flag for the 20-lap IMCA Northern SportMod main, Igor Gandzuk took the reins on the opening lap and set a rapid pace but was eventually caught by the completion of the seventh circuit. The driver to catch Gandzuk was Jonathan Hagio. However, Hagio was by no means out of the proverbial woods as he got bottled up in lapped traffic that brought the entire top five into contention for the lead. Shortly after Hagio passed the last car on the lead lap, a multi-car incident, including two top-five runners, occurred on the 12th circuit. Baker’s IMCA Northern SportMod win is first in 10 years at home track Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (April 4, 2022) – A driver who admittedly hasn’t led a lot of laps finally led the most important one Saturday night. Brian Baker won the April 2 IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Bakersfield Speedway. While it wasn’t his first win in the sanctioned division, the checkers were his first in 10 years in the class at his hometown track. “I’d never finished in the top four here. Winston Speedway reschedules Player Hater Wild West Shootout

WINSTON, Mich. (April 4, 2022) – The Winston Speedway Player Hater Wild West Shootout has been moved to Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9. Saturday’s IMCA Modified feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $175 to start with the winner earning Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Qualifying begins on Friday with last-chance races and the main event on night two. The Player Hater Wild West Shootout is presented by Lane Automotive.

Crystal preps for 35th IMCA Modified season with test and tune this weekend

CRYSTAL, Mich. (April 4, 2022) – With spring in the air, Crystal Motor Speedway is preparing for the 2022 season, its 35th consecutive running the IMCA Modified division. Test and tune for any race car will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 9 and 10 from noon-5 p.m. Pit passes will be $20 with free admission to the grandstands. The race season will begin April 16 with a full show for all divisions. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing will start approximately at 7:30 p.m. Pit passes are $30, grandstand tickets are $15 for adults, and kids 5-11 are $5. Family passes on regular race events will be $35 for two adults and two children. US 36 Raceway practice moved to Sunday

OSBORN, Mo. (March 31, 2022) – The US 36 Raceway practice scheduled for Saturday, April 2 has been moved to Sunday, April 3 from 1-5 p.m. Better weather is in the forecast for Sunday, said track officials, and the extra day will also allow more time for track prep.

Rea, Sanders top Cottage Grove openers

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (March 26, 2022) – Saturday marked the beginning of the 66th campaign of action at the historic ¼-mile clay Cottage Grove Speedway. Paul Rea put in a shift of dominance for much of the IMCA Modified main event. The Eugene veteran pounced in front of the rest of the pack on the initial start then went practically uncontested for the entire distance. Paul eventually felt some pressure after the third and final restart when Brad Martin came to call to call. Martin would fall short however and Rea emerged victorious for his first win of the season . Martin was second and Steven Sturdevant third. In the IMCA Northern SportMods, Ray Comer Jr. on the first circuit. Comer remained there until lap four when Matt Sanders got around him. McBirnie rules Nebraska’s Dirt Crown in first IMCA Modified outing at Beatrice

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 26, 2022) – Jake McBirnie was the winner the first night he brought an IMCA Modified to Beatrice Speedway while Benji Legg was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner on a night he hadn’t even planned to race. McBirnie topped the Saturday Nebraska’s Dirt Crown Spring Tour main event for the Modifieds, earning $2,500 and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility for his start-to-finish run at the front of the 25-lapper. Legg’s $2,000 checkers made him eligible to qualify for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. His career third win in the class also came in his first start since rolling on night two of Beatrice’s Spring Nationals.
