Auringer tops Iowa Donor Network, Urbana 5 Night at Benton County Speedway

By Ryan Clark VINTON, Iowa (June 14) – J.D. Auringer continued his recent hot streak in a big way at Benton County Speedway. The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified driver earned his third win in eight days and pocketed $1,250 Sunday night by topping a 32-car field on Iowa Donor Network/Urbana 5 Memorial Night. The win also placed Auringer on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Outside front row starter Ronn Lauritzen paced the field while Auringer positioned himself on the top groove of the quarter-mile. Auringer made his way into second following a lap four restart and chased Lauritzen until a caution slowed action a final time on the 20th of 25 laps. On the restart, Auringer worked beneath Lauritzen to steal the lead and pull away to victory. He also won the last two Saturday shows in Independence. Mike Jergens made an impressive run from 10th to finish second ahead of Zach Less. Laurtizen ran fourth ahead of Scott Hogan, who started 22nd and qualified by winning a “B” feature. Williamson tops IMCA Wild West Tour opener at Southern Oregon

By Ben Deatherage WHITE CITY, Ore. (June 13) – Jesse Williamson took a big first step toward his career third Wild West Modified Shootout title by winning the opening night feature Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway. Williamson grabbed the top spot and seemed to have the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified field covered before things got a little interesting toward the end. Several cautions kept the field bunched but Williamson stayed out front and took the $1,000 checkers, his tour career seventh. Jerry Schram was second and defending Shootout champion Alex Stanford was third. Collen Winebarger and Nick Trenchard completed the top five. Williamson, champion of the 2012 and 2013 Shootouts, was already a candidate for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Forty Modifieds from half a dozen states vied Saturday. The Wild West Modified Shootout heads south for its only race in the Golden State of California on Sunday, June 14. Yreka’s Siskiyou Motor Speedway hosts the second of seven tour stops. Williamson seeks career third Wild West Shootout title

By Ben Deatherage EUGENE, Ore. – One of the top contenders to challenge for the fifth annual Wild West Modified Shootout crown is Eugene’s Jesse Williamson. The current Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified campaign has treated him well with four feature wins in only a handful of starts. Two Modified main events have been won in the Modifieds at Cottage Grove Speedway while he also has won at the historic 1/4-mile clay oval in a late model. “It has been a good year so far,” said Williamson. “We’ve been fast every time but in a couple of races we’ve broke when contending for the win.” Williamson is the 2012 and 2013 Wild West Modified Shootout champion and is the only driver to repeat a Speedweek crown. Add to his résumé four Cottage Grove Modified Nationals, a Shipwreck Beads Northwest Modified Nationals crown and last year’s Lon Skinner Memorial victory at Southern Oregon Speedway. He is the all-time leading winner in the history of the Wild West Modified Shootout with six but unfortunately did not manage [Read More]

Dakota Mod Tour

2015 Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Modified Tour payout powered up with new partnership from Industrial Electric and RACEFEEDX

Following up to the RACEFEEDX “New Blood, Long Tow” presented by IMCA.TV, officials from the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Modified Tour are pleased to announce added purse monies from Industrial Electric and RACEFEEDX for the 2015 monster modified tilt.

Industrial Electric joins the growing list of Dakota Classic Modified Tour sponsors in the same way so many businesses have joined the tour–as fans of racing! Owner Lynn Hecker of Dickinson, North Dakota, has sponsored several IMCA modified cars over the years and he loves to “see the very best drivers from all over the continent come to North Dakota to compete against some very tough competition right here at home.” He also understands some of the tracks on the tour, like his home track of Dickinson, do not have the grandstand capacity to fund the ever growing payouts the tour needs to attract the best drivers.

While in Arizona this past winter watching two of his sponsored drivers, Shawn Strand of Mandan and Jeff Taylor of Cave City, Arkansas, race, the idea was tossed [Read More]

Prauner notes 100th Northern SportMod win with June 5 checkers at Boone Co. Raceway

NORFOLK, Neb. – The meticulous notes Kyle Prauner keeps about all his races will include a special footnote for his June 5th outing at Boone County Raceway. Prauner won for the 100th time in his Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod career Friday at Albion, becoming just the third driver in the 10-plus year history of the division to reach that mark. “Winning 100 times wasn’t something I set out to do when I started racing a SportMod. Success comes with hard work, dedication and passion by a lot of people,” Prauner said. “I never thought we’d get to 50 wins to be honest, but we’ve had good cars and a lot of good help.” Friday’s checkers were his fifth of the season. From Norfolk, Prauner was the national runner-up with 28 wins in 2012 and 27 in 2013. He was third nationally while winning a fifth straight Allstar Performance Nebraska State crown last season. “One hundred wins is a little more icing on the cake. It’s hard to compare to other accomplishments,” said Prauner, also a 12-time SportMod [Read More]

Deery Bros Late Model Summer Series

Kay takes Deery win, series point lead at Jackson County

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 9) – Justin Kay’s third Deery Brothers Summer Series feature win of the season put him in a familiar place: Back on top of point standings for the IMCA Late Model tour. Kay passed Tyler Droste and pole starter Dan Shelliam for the lead midway through Tuesday’s 40-lap main event at Jackson County Speedway. Two late cautions kept lapped traffic from becoming an issue and Kay motored to the $3,000 victory, his tour career 12th. Shelliam gained second back from Droste following the final restart, with three laps left. The runner-up finish was his career best. Droste was third, Joe Zrostlik a career best in fourth and Jeff Aikey completed the top five. Andy Nezworski came into the night with the point lead, started 17th after running third in his “B” feature and finished sixth. Ryan Dolan started last in the field of 24 and ended in ninth. The defending Deery champion, Kay is now tied with Jay Johnson of West Burlington for 10th on the all-time series wins list. He also ran third [Read More]

Hurst inches by Maitland for Jackson County Hawkeye Dirt Tour win

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 9) – The margin of Jeremiah Hurst’s career first Hawkeye Dirt Tour feature win was measured in inches. And not very many of them. Hurst caught Ryan Maitland coming out of the final turn Tuesday at Jackson County Speedway and won the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event by not much more than a bumper. The $1,000 victory landed him on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Hurst had started ninth, ran second much of the way in a caution-free 25-lapper and went to a higher line to get around Maitland and get the win. Justin Kay raced from 16th starting to third in his HDT debut. Ben Chapman was fourth while defending series champion Mike Van Genderen moved atop the point standings with his fifth place showing. Maitland had led 24-plus laps after starting from the pole and withstanding early pressure from Chapman. The second Hawkeye Dirt Tour event of the week is Thursday, June 11 at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. Feature results – 1. Jeremiah Hurst, Dubuque; 2. [Read More]

Humphries’ luck changes at Shenandoah

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (June 6) – Tom Humphries made it two wins in three Virginia Sprint Series events at Shenandoah Speedway on Saturday night. Humphries took the IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car tour opener at Shenandoah on April 11, then was part of a three-car tangle in the May 9 show and ended in ninth. The third time was another charm on the fast asphalt oval as he took the checkers ahead of Jerald Harris and French Grimes. Charlie Ware and Bill Rice paced the field to green with Rice out first and Anthony Linkenhoker right on his bumper. Lap five had a new leader in Linkenhoker and Humphries in second. Linkenhoker was smooth in the middle grove but Humphries had to withstand pressure from Grimes and Harris. Humphries went low and into the lead and Harris took over second on the next lap. Humphries was leading with one to go when Harris got mixed up with traffic at the wrong time and was unable to mount a charge. Feature results –  [Read More]
