Shryock scores first Hawkeye Dirt Tour win at Southern Iowa Speedway

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 15) – Kelly Shryock continued the trend of new Hawkeye Dirt Tour winners Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway.

Not only was he the fifth winner in as many series events this season, it was Shryock’s first career win on the tour for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds.

A qualifying event for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, Shryock was already vote eligible.

Fresh off his Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Mod Tour championship, Ricky Thornton Jr. redrew the pole and took the early advantage in the 25-lapper. His time out front was short-lived as Shryock grabbed the lead away just prior to a lap three caution.

Shryock continued to pave the way with Cayden Carter pursuing and Kyle Strickler making his way through the field.

Strickler worked the low side past Carter with three laps to go, however he came up a couple car-lengths short of Shryock at the line. Carter ran third.

Shryock became the fourth different series winner in four events held all-time at the speedway.

Other winners during the Southern Iowa Fair included Daniel Hilsabeck in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Jason McDaniel in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Dale Porter was the winner in the IMCA Hobby Stocks and Bill Whalen Jr. topped the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

The next event on the Hawkeye Dirt Tour schedule is a Wednesday, July 22 stop at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta.
