Wauge holds on to win round four of Wild West Shoot Out at Cottage Grove

(June 14) – Despite drama on the last lap, Mark Wauge emerged from Tuesday’s Wild West Modified Shoot Out feature at Cottage Grove Speedway with the $1,000 feature win. While the second half of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event ran practically caution free, Wauge had a close call on the final circuit after another car came to a halt in turn four. Wauge, and the rest of the field, managed to miss the stopped car and crossed the line to win for the second time in his Shoot Out career. Alex Stanford was scored second, followed by Bricen James, Danny Lauer and Randy Brown. Wauge had started from the pole position and built a sizable lead early on. Once in front, Kay can’t be caught in Deery Series feature at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (June 14) – Another West Liberty Deery Brothers Summer Series show, another IMCA Late Model tour win for Justin Kay. Kay led the last 22 of 40 laps in winning Tuesday’s main event at West Liberty Raceway. The $2,000 victory was his sixth in nine events there since July of 2013 – he finished fourth, second and third in the other three races – and third in as many outings in the car Brian Birkhofer had been driving. “We’d won weekly shows at Davenport Friday and West Liberty on Saturday. We didn’t make any changes from the weekly show here,” Kay said following Deery career win number 17. “We always enjoy racing at West Liberty.” Denny Eckrich had won the 30th annual tour opener back in April and led the first 17 circuits Tuesday night. Long haul to West Liberty pays off for IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour winner Abelson

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (June 14) – Chris Abelson had never been to West Liberty Raceway before Tuesday evening’s Hawkeye Dirt Tour event. A thousand dollars richer, the 2015 national champion and new Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified series point leader was probably already looking forward to his next 5-1/2 hour tow there from his home in Sioux City. “I’d never seen the track before tonight. Late-race pass helps Chadwick go back-to-back in Wild West Modified Shoot Out

(June 13) – Kellen Chadwick stayed persistent and was rewarded with his second straight Wild West Modified Shoot Out feature win Monday at Cottage Grove Speedway. The $1,000 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified checkers were the second in as many nights for Chadwick, who’d also won Sunday at Siskiyou Motor Speedway. Tripp Gaylord took full advantage of his pole starting position to get to the front early. The first-time visitor to Cottage Grove mastered the middle of the track and kept all challengers at bay for much of the race. Unfortunately for Gaylord, he wouldn’t be able to build on his lead due to several cautions occurring in the first half of the race. Despite the yellows, the young Gaylord was good enough on the restarts to maintain the lead and went to work on creating distance between himself and the second-running Chadwick. Wild West Shoot Out ventures to California, Chadwick impresses in home state feature

By Ben Deatherage YREKA, Calif. (June 12) – A home state driver was the Sunday winner, when the 2016 Wild West Shoot Out made its only stop in the Golden State. Kellen Chadwick earned $1,000 and a spot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational along with the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified checkers at Siskiyou Motor Speedway. As was the case on opening night at Southern Oregon Speedway, Collen Winebarger set a rapid pace for a good portion of the race. His sizable lead was cut down when a lap 11 caution bunch up the field again. On the restart, Lance Mari went back to work on Winebarger for the top spot. Mari successfully made his move on the bottom and took the lead on lap 14. Mari then attempted to set sail but a lap 18 yellow lined the field up together one last time. Gaylord opens Shoot Out with Southern Oregon victory

(June 11) – Ryan Gaylord came oh-so-close to winning the Wild West IMCA Modified Shoot Out feature last summer at Willamette Speedway, leading most of the way before coming up second in a photo finish to Alex Stanford. He was in the picture again when that the 2016 tour opened Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway, this time in victory lane. More than 40 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified entries filled up the pit area for an event that would entertain fans from start to finish. Polesitter Collen Winebarger seized the initiative in the main event and took the lead on the opening circuit. Winebarger found himself in a battle with Gaylord around lap 20. Gaylord eventually secured the lead but wasn’t quite out of the woods quite yet. The Lakewood, Colo., traveler had his hands full in the last 15 laps with Californian Kellen Chadwick. Second-year driver wins career first Virginia Sprint Series feature

Coats showed his heat race earlier in the evening was no fluke as he raced to his career first Virginia Sprint Series win in a Fast Friday Feature at Dixieland Speedway. Coats and Bill Rice paced the IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green before a full house of fans at the coastal Carolina speedway. Coats was out first with Rice up high but on lap three Mike Leraas made his way to second. The pack from the back was starting to pressure the lead duo with Daren Bolac getting there first and getting to second on lap 15 as traffic came into play. Jerald Harris was on Leraas for third as Bolac was pressuring Coats, but it would be for naught as Coats stayed fast and smooth taking the win. Deery Series, IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour at West Liberty for June 14 twinbill

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (June 10) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series and the Hawkeye Dirt Tour pack another 1-2 Tuesday night punch, this time on June 14 at West Liberty Raceway. While the IMCA Late Model tour has made 13 previous visits to West Liberty, most recently when the 30th annual series opened on April 9, next Tuesday’s event marks the first-ever visit there by the tour for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. The Deery feature pays $2,000 to win and minimum $300 to start while the Dirt Tour pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to take the main event green. The Modified feature is also a qualifier for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Mid-Iowa Topless 50 plays out June 14 at Hamilton County Speedway

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – Both Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods shed their roofs for the Tuesday, June 14 Mid-Iowa Topless 50 at Hamilton County Speedway. Modifieds race for $2,000 to win their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier while Northern SportMods chase a top check of $1,000. Thirty cars will start each main event. Tow money is $100 for Modifieds and $65 for the SportMods. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded in both divisions, as will BMS North Central Region points for the Modifieds. Local track points will not be given. Entry fees of $65 for Modifieds and $45 for Northern SportMods include the driver’s pit pass.
